Watching his 'oh God help us' midnight speech right now, wow, they are this close from accepting defeat. This is the first time that any such stunt has been pulled, he is asking for weekly debates (sign of a floundering campaign), and there have been calls by the democrats to restructure his campaign. Wow, and as I write this he is giving such a half-assed speech that the audience is barely cheering for him, and at times even booing him. I am not saying that this is over by any means, but really its just sad.

Generally speaking, candidates want to debate because they think they have better ideas and can out-think (and out-talk) their opponent.

And why on earth would Kerry accept defeat before the poles are even opened? Don't kid yourself: this country is split just about 50/50: 46% for Bush, 46% for Kerry, 8% undecided.

This is going to be a very close race, no matter what either candidate says or does.

While he might not be the best speaker, Bush will clean up in a debate, that is his strong suit, and people on both sides think that, he really is a good debater, so I am not worried about it. But I still find it stupid, he needs to run the country and not worry about arguing with a yankee every week, he has better things to do.

Wait a minute... did you just say that the presidential debates serve no useful purpose?

It's the ONE opportunity for the two candidates to acually have a substaintive discussion! I've been ignoring all the political rederrick from both sides, but I'm looking forward to the debates. And the more, the better, as far as I'm concerned. This campaign needs some substance. And substance doesn't come from political TV spots and preaching to the choir.

Yeah, I am looking forward to the debates because it has nothing to do with vietnam, Kerry is going to be naked and shivering without his 30 year old fatigues and war record, what is he gonna talk about, I also like the fact that on most of the issues they will agree

i think both suck....i wish there was someone else to vote for. i am so sick of hearing kerry yammer about his viet nam thing, it over! we understand you helped people, it was your job, if you didn't do it you would've been a huge fucking pussy. it's not that impressive, how many other americans were in viet nam? and to bush and chaney, i'm tired of hearing them talk about the war and all the great things they did in iraq and how heavily armed we are. i just want to know what these people are doing for our future, not what they've done in the past.

straight up, i love skiing and the ecosystem is getting fucked up, how are they going to stop my snow from melting in feburary? that is my main concern. other than that, how are they going to help our people out, health insurance primarly (for when i get fucked up skiing). i feel both are going to do a shitty job. which means it's a shitty year to vote for my first time.

Mercer, I agree 100%. I wish politicians would talk about what they plan on doing to help the future nowadays. Instead it's all bashing the other side, or explaining why not to vote for the other. WHy not explain why to vote FOR YOU? it's bullshit, and neither side is innocnet of it. What's sad is, the american people would rather have this then have real goals for the future laid out before them. This country sucks.
