Keri Herman turning to crowd funding to prop up her career.

Shit, looks like this kid on the internet has everything about hoodcrew figured out! Fuck, how'd you find out about their financial situations there?

You were probably one of those kids that thought David Lesh was a trust fund baby as well.

Yea, you tell him good chubby...teach him what its like to be a real skiier, man

Because you know so much, right?

Who gives a fuck what money people have?

As long as the best skiers are getting the limelight whats the point?

Who cares if their rocking mommy and daddy's coin, You don't know them or their whole story.

besides everyone is making do with what they got so why belittle them for that?

Keri is actively trying to pursue her dreams thats more than I can say for most of the jealous pricks on here.

Im not saying everyone here is like that because most of you are awesome and support others.

but for those whiners

i mean she's 30+ years old now, might just be that time to move on to something else. she had her time, and now it seems like it's coming to a close.

I'm all for supporting Keri, but what's with her blaming the future professional women of freeskiing for her financial status? It's an unfortunately sour comment that I'm sure has lead to some of the unsympathetic responses in this thread.

Either way, hope she manages to figure out a way to keep her skiing career going. I'm also stoked to see what the 15 year olds stealing her sponsorship money will be doing to push women's skiing.

i think its hilarious that one of the only more expensive things she was able to sell was the 500 dollar jiberish sweatshirt

I don't know. Float around the lift lines and there are plenty of girls and women skiing on twin-tip skis, fairly slick outerwear, boots and bindings. No matter the "state of women's freeskiing" women still seem to know how to use their own or Mom/Dad's credit card to look good out there. K2 Ski Alliance seems to have a team of the better lady rippers - Maggie, Kelly, Anna Segal, etc. Does that inspire other ladies into buying the same equipment?

rowen knows what he is talking about, it was a rhetorical question. does ON3P make a ladies' version of the filthy rich or prester? No of course not- the market is way small compared to the guy's market. any shop kid on here will tell that they sell 100 times more guy's park skis than women's. plus, a lot of really good women don't want to ski on a "ladies" ski because they feel like something "good" has been taken out compared to the version. so they end up buying the men's ski most of the time anyway. the market is way smaller than the guys, especially when viewed on a national or global scale.

Pro or no pro. Why should anyone pay for someone else's skiing addiction?

A random ski bum said once "skiing is a passion not competition".

No one pays for other people's heroine addiction so why should random people pay for someone's ski addiction, pro or not.

If you really love something you will find a way to contiue doing what you love.

um, seriously? being a pro means exactly that- someone else pays for your skiing. that ski bum wasn't a competitor so naturally he will say that skiing isn't a competition. but guess what? for many other people it is a competition and that scene is mad expensive. flights, hotels, rental cars, food, entrance fees... all that shit adds up over a season and if her sponsors aren't covering it then someone needs to. and to your last sentence, she doing exactly that- finding a way to continue doing what she loves.

You live on a rock floating in the middle of the ocean that was originally established for criminals and the scum of society. How can you know anything about skiing outside of baseless assumptions and what you read from other jerkoffs on NS? I doubt Sean Connery knew much about the outside world during his visits to your god forsaken rock.

You're right about Lesh. Go look up a thread about his Next Friday vids or him personally and I'm sure you'll find posts by me that absolutely trash his trust-funded ass. I'll wait... lolz

There are so many people on NS that act like sponsorships and ski companies are these magical things that live in a world where money doesn't exist. It's a business folks... These companies care way more about their margins than they do about supporting someone's dreams (and that's the way it should be). Would you rather see Keri ski in comps until she is 40, or see her sponsors get hurt by miss allocating their precious resources to someone who brings a diminishing return on investment?

She JUST won dew tour.....

How can it be time to move on if your topping the podium? Does it really matter if your 12 or 80 if you finish first? Your still the best.

That being said It's tough to be a female in slope/pipe. Dudes just throw down SO much harder. I don't want them to not try because I think i speak for all guys on here when i say i would love to see more chicks in the park.

this hits the nail on the head

it's not about whether you're old or young, winning or losing, it's about do you have something to offer your sponsors?

nobody sponsors douglas or plake anymore for their skiing ability. They have charisma, and people know and respect who they are, and their sponsors benefit from that association.

At some point as a pro whether you're still winning or not you need to work on building a reputation that's worth more than your comp results.

I don't even know what keri looks like in real life. I couldn't pick her out of a picture, or tell you what movies she's been in, what contests she's won or what her last 3 ski sponsors were... and i've been using this site daily for 10 years

it's a sad reality, but athletes are paid for their marketability. Keri has had 10-12 years to build it up. If she hasn't established enough of a reputation by now then it's natural selection

This exactly, how people don't understand this is beyond me.

Also- if you don't want to help with her crowd funding then don't. I personally don't give two shits if she hits her goal or not but if she can more power to her.
