Just got home from Freestyle.ch and im super stoked but also a bit dissapointed. Henrik Harlaut won beating Kai mahler in 2nd and Gus kentworthy in 3rd.

The problem with competitions like freestyle is there is so much bias with swiss riders and swiss judges. It was evident that Gus' dub 16 was more: stomped, stylish, longer grabbed and had a much more original feel. Mahler has been doing dub 14's for about 2 years now in freestyle and x games. Judges are still giving him props for being swiss, its a fucking disgrace. Gus if you're reading this, on behalf of everyone reading you deserved 2nd and maybe even 1st because henrik's run wasnt that special. If im honest this nose butter stuff is getting quite old and i've never seen a dub 16 before. Stale Sandbech also landed a triple which was the first triple in mainland Europe. Discussions on judge bias and Kai mahler's shitty repetitive style.

Its really annoying how people on this site praise henrik like a god but chirp bobby, goepper etc, for repeating their shit, but henrik has been doing nose butter dubs in everything and theyre kinda boring to watch(still impressive)
 
gus has been doing dub 16's for what, 3 years now? No Hate on gus, he's on of, if not my favorite skier
 
*KenworthyThat Dub 16 was so crazy to see first hand, just whipping his head round and spotting that landing like nothing. Fuck the judging this year, Stale Sandbech and Sage Kotsenburg behind Antoine Truchand?????

I can't believe that Kai Mahler made it through instead of Jules Bonnaire, his style was fucking crazy and some of the biggest mute to tails in a dub 12 I've ever seen. I'm not too bummed Henrik won because it was Henrik, but if Kai had won I would've been super pissed

Somebody should get Henrik blacked out and then shave his dreadlocks off while he's sleeping and maybe give him a bath before he completely ruins the image of our sport.
 
not sure if enyone of you even watched the comp. Gus Dub16 didnt have grab and his hands touhed ground when he laneded. So thats why he didnt get so great score, Dub14 so much cleaner than 16. Hand touching ground and missing grab is something most of the judges look at these days when almost everyting else is perfect.

Go ski into the woods, you gaper. It must suck to be so excited to watch people do something that you don't have the faintest clue about.
 
This thread contains large amounts of ignorance concerning judging.

For the snowboard part it's simple: Hands down in the landing, points deducted. That's why Ståle didn't win.

For the skiing, it's also quite simple: The judges don't give a fuck about what you think is boring or repetitive, they judge based on execution and difficulty, which is why Henrik won. However, judging has a subjective element to it, which is probably why Kai got 2nd. I don't think judges do it consciously, but it happens.

The OP is really just plain stupid, and I guess the Kentworthy thing kind of underlined that.
 
Haven't seen footage but:

Both Gus and Kai have been doing those tricks for years. Regardless if you've seen them or not- the judges have.

Gus is adding an extra rotation to a dub 12, whereas Kai is doing a rotation that's totally different from anyone else in the comp.

Plus in the official Olympic judging rulebook, it clearly states that switch dub misty 14 > forward dub 16. Duh.
 
Are you joking? How can anybody hate someone who is constantly in a great mood, always smiling, and always stoked? I don't see how he can be ruining the image of our sport with the attitude that he has.

To bad the comp was judged on Tech* instead of style, Gus's trick was fucking insanely beautiful.

(the startgate had a clearly visible "tech" sign on it)
 
Nosebutters are way overrated !

Henrik has been winning most of the last BA comps due to this, McRae won Euro X for the same reason.

It sure is one of the most stylish trick but in comps, I don't know.. A nosebutter dub 12 is still a dub 12 or some sort of sw dub 10..
 
Is it just me who thought that vincent gagnier got robbed in the qualification? He did the sw rodeo 5 pretzel 1! I don't care how much you spin, that trick is more technical than anything that was thrown there!
 
I love it when idiots comment on a trick without ever taking into account how fucking hard it is to do, which is why you get scored high for doing them and WHY NO ONE ELSE DOES THEM.

Henrik is not the only one doing nosebutter dub 12, and I still think Kai or Gus trick are as hard as Henrik's one.
 
Honestly, that jump was a little too small for what Gus threw. His grab was not held as long or as clean as Kai's & Harlaut's. I could see Kai beating out Henrik, just because his landing was cleaner. Hard call tho, Harlaut's grab & axis of rotation in that trick is insane... Not many people throw dub quite like it. Kai's trick was textbook, B-Brown, switch dub misty with the power mute.

The judges have strict guidelines when it comes to this stuff so don't try to do their job. Also Henrik is Swedish, not swiss, so what did that have to do with anything?
 
Gus's dub 16's are probably one of my favorite tricks being thrown. They are so beautiful wit all dat spin i can't even.
 
^^^^ ya u tell em. I think Gus is tight and rly talented but if u can't appreciate a nose butter triple which is extremely hard to begin with, than what do u get excited about.

Yeah, I get it. But there are a shit ton of other professional skiers out there who have the same attitude that aren't barking at the camera with gross ass dreadlocks, landing with his pants at his knees (see freestyle.ch video), and being an idiot at all times. I can continue on with examples of how he's an idiot, but that would not only form a small book, but it would also not come close to changing your guys perceptions on him because you guys suck the Inspired cock so hard that your breath smells like Rastafarians.

Watch the slowmo of gus's jump, definatley got the grab and stomped the shit out of the landing.

Henrik's nosebud dub was great in the air, but he hand dragged the shit out of the landing

And Kai's jump was pretty sweet. I think he deserved second.

 
It's sad how you are so insecure that you feel the need to control how other people look and act. It has nothing to do with you and it does not hurt anyone, so for you to take such offence with it is really kinda weird. I think you might be in love with him, and just have a hard time getting to terms with your feelings. But it's okay, we love who we love, just accept your feeling, and you will become a happier person, without the need to say stupid shit on NS.
