He just had to come along it fuck it up for the rest of us. if more ski areas start to get scared because of one joey that couldn’t man up and say that it was not the jump that messed him up but the over amount of speed which caused him to over shoot the jump. How does one not know the many dangers of skiing there is, and have the nerve to sue a ski area because of his own doing? Whats next if some one hits a tree in a glade and can not use they legs any more, or maybe die. Is a ski area going clear cuts all the trees so no one else can get hurt. People hit trees and do die that stuff happens every year it is sad yes but it is a part of skiing, such as jumps in parks people need to realize the dangers involved in the sport, as well does the companies that own the Ski Mountains, and they can not let a Kokos destroy our sport that we all love.
 
already a huge thread on this dude. We really don't need more discussion. He has already directly stated he didn't want the parks to be destroyed, he just wanted to help out the parks to create BETTER jumps. I think he knows what he did and that it's his fault. He isn't going to destroy skiing at all. In fact, it could help keep people who don't know what they're doing out of the parks with more restrictions for entrance.
 
he is paralyzed from the neck down. the 14 million dollars is to pay for his care, being that he can never use his limbs again. he isn't rich.
 
Read the other thread. Kenny is a quadriplegic. He's not an old man or anything, he still has a LONG ways to go in life. His medical bill don't pay themselves. I seriously doubt that he will be able to use the 14 million for much more than just that: medical bills. I would definitely rather be where I am right now as a fully functioning person in good shape than Kenny Salvini, a paralyzed 27 year old with $14 million that he cannot afford to spend on anything else but medical bills. He gets enough hate mail already and he's being really chill about it. I think you guys need to back off and realize that he didn't intend for RCR to take out jumps or anything. He just wanted a portion of the cash he will need to have a semi-decent life.

are you retarded? He can't control any part of his body below his neck. He can't move himself around, or go to the bathroom without help, he has to have someone with him or ready at notice 24/7. That will cost much more than $15 million over a lifetime.
 
holyflyingskiiiiiierman: what do you mean WHAT IF someone hits a tree and dies? do you remember ten years ago when sonny bono and one of the million kennedy's skied (helmet-less) into trees within a week or two of each other? two dead political-celebrities and everyone was talking about making helmets mandatory equipment for skiers. kenny salvini wasn't wearing a helmet either, but luckily he didn't hit a tree.
 
i feel sorry for the guy, really i do. his life is irrevicably changed forever and it sucks

but it doesnt change the fact that he knew entering that park that he could get hurt, and whether he's chill or not, he has too accept it if people are going too be angry because what he did has and will continue to affect our sport.

christ, i broke my back at whistler last may. im not making comparisons cos i can still walk and ski, but i had a shitload of expenses and missed a bunch of work, but im not about to sue the hill because they didnt make me huck a blind crevase to dead flat. i did. without checking my speed or landing. MY FUCKING FAULT.

again, i feel increadibly sorry for him, but i refuse to defend his actions.
 
If you guys read the first part of his blog you would know he hasnt seen any money yet and hes on government funding. The guy couldnt even get the air matress he needs because the government would pay for it.

if you're going to be pissed off, be pissed off at the retarded liability obsessed culture in north america, not some poor unlucky dude who tried to get something back through the system. kenny salvini didn't invent lawsuits or lawyers, nor did he go over to RCR and stop them from building parks at gunpoint.

forget about him. make some noise at RCR, picket them, support places that are keeping parks going, and next year you'll magically see parks back at RCR.

slagging the guy off like this is just fucking weak. yes, he was a gaper, we get it, and he gets it. his oakley jacket wasn't as baggy as yours. in 40 years your pathetic whining posts and the crisis of NO PARKS AT RCR in 2008 OH MY GOD! will be a distant memory, but he'll still be waking up every single morning regretting he took too much speed on that inrun.

 
do people forget that this is why insurance exists?  its not like youre paying out of your pocket for these things.  He's getting 14 million on top of what his insurance is covering.

Now if he didn't have health insurance, then theres a different story.  But that doofus wears cowboys hats from what ive seen, so im gonna go ahead and assume that he does.

I think people have a right to be pissed off at Salvini, but not for the lawsuit... the thing he did wrong was failing to take adequate care when he got himself hurt. That was his mistake. The lawsuit was utterly necessary to support his life. He couldn't not sue, he had no other realistic option. There sure is a lot of bitching on here lately... people really don't seem to understand what life in that position entails and what it costs (possibly because half of you are 16 and have no concept of money or world outside the suburbs).

I can tell you right now that in his position every one of you would be getting money from the hill either through lawsuit or settlement. I promise.

Salvini did make a mistake, and his actions have had seriously negative backlash on our sport. while i cant condone what he did, i can certainly understand his predicament. people in his situation do require a large sum of money to take care of themselves. i think though some of the blame is certainly his, a much larger portion belongs to those RCR assholes, who are serious dicks. And on a completely unrelated note, fuck yoko ono, she is a whore.

the thing that bugs me is that if he had slipped on ice out front of his house and gotten paralyzed he wouldnt get jack shit from anyone, but because there was someone he could put the blame on instead of on himself where it should be he did

 
My deal about his 14 mil is that there are children born everyday that will not be able to walk or use their arms and they don't get 14 million dollars and it's not even their fault they can't walk. I feel bad for that guy because he won't ever get to enjoy the things he loves but people have to take responsibility for their actions instead of suing the hell out of some ski resort that was probably already going through some financial trouble.
