Kendrick Lamar VS Macklemore

i agree with that entire post except for the whole album was commercial garbage part, was it as good as his earlier stuff personally i dont think so, but it was still a really good album. The only song i didnt like on it was same love

yeah okay i'll take back saying its commercial garbage, there is far far worse out there. i guess what i meant is it sounded way too commercial compared to his older stuf, and it seemed a shame because he could have gone other routes since he showed promise with songs like otherside and vippassana.

maybe he'll grow, but i dunno, it could go one of two ways. kendrick still blows even his best stuff out of the water though.

What album do you guys think is better? Oxymoron or These Days...? I'm leaning towards These Days...

Theyre both pretty good. Im leaning more towards these days because I havent over played it yet.

A few thoughts:

I'm really glad that Kendrick never even said Macklemore's name on the control verse. To me that was the biggest diss on that track.

Also, everyone forgets about Ryan Lewis. Macklemore's flow is generic and half of that CD feels like he's just filling space between hooks. Ryan's production is really the only thing that is impressive to me on the Heist. I feel like he won that Grammy more than Macklemore.

Isaiah Rashad is a boss.

Kendricks next album will be his defining point in hip hop. If he's able to top gkmc then the game is his. Macklemore will only be known as a radio rapper and probably fade into obscurity or just keep making radio hits with simple ideas and catchy beats.

I hope that's sarcastic man. Fuck Wayne and Drake. Fuck all of YMCMB

Fuck it this will get hate, and I'm not saying Lil Wayne is the best (anymore, he definitely was when he claimed it)

BUT

Tha Carter V and the Leftovers will be huge.

His control verse was/is great. At least i really enjoy it.

I'm stoked for kendricks next album. I don't want to get too excited though because what if it's not as good as gkmc.

Says the person with the chief keef icons.

Hmm possibly, but hold on, wait, he seems to be getting over 200,000 views in a couple days on every video he's uploaded this year so no, sorry.

Popularity doesn't determine skill. Sure it's really just an opinion but you can't deny that chief Keef really isn't a great rapper. Besides, someone like riff raff is way more interesting and internet famous for not being the greatest rapper. Chief Keef just gets lost in the sea of other trap rappers these days

You NS dickheads thinks lyricism is EVERYTHING. No, he is a good rapper. He is a melodic genius and top-tier and making shit sound good. And he's a drill rapper (pioneer of drill at that), not trap.

Alright, no. Lyricism isn't everything. I'm not some fanboy that jacks off to slaughterhouse verses cause of all the word play. I am a fan of riff raff because of his antics and entertainment value. The guy is just fucking crazy and interesting. Chief Keef isn't saying anything new. Or fun. Or extremely noticeable. Sure he's at the forefront of drill, a subcategory of trap, I'll give you that. But what does he really have? If you enjoy him then that's fine but don't go around saying he's bringing anything new to the table or is even remotely on the level of someone like kendrick.

Trick question...Both are terrible.

I guess Macklemore is decent if anything....But Kendrick Lamar is just bad...

There's that meme floating around the internet somewhere with a pic of Tupac that says "If I were still alive, Lil Wayne would be working at McDonalds right now"...I think the same stands for pretty much all of the rap artists these days.

As a society, we've become accustomed to terrible fucking music, and it makes me sad.

Literally everything Kendrick is doing has been done before tho.. like 10-15 years ago..

Name another artist that sounds, vibes, and creates like like Chief Keef. I'll wait.

Okay by now you must just be trolling or have never been on datpiff because generic trap rap is basically everywhere you look these days. I'm not saying that Kendrick reinvented the wheel. But he brought life to the west coast again and has his own interesting stories that he can articulate well. He doesn't rely on typical rap themes like promoting gang violence or drugs or money to make himself sound cool. He doesn't seem to be obsessed with his self image, or creating a fake one, like a lot of rappers which is a nice thing. He definitely is atypical so to say he isn't doing something new is ignorant. Maybe traits can be found in chief Keef that make him interesting and different to you but I'm just not seeing it.

LiveMixtapes > DatPiff. DatPiff fucks with my phone. And to your response, fair enough.
