Kendrick Lamar VS Macklemore

First off, I know, it is a disgrace to even compare the two. My friend is being a dumbass and thinks Macklemore is way better than Kendrick. He doesn't know shit about rap and it's pissing me off. TDE is running the rap world right now and nobody can touch Kendrick. I've tried to explain to my friend why Macklemore isn't even one half the rapper that K.dot is, but he won't listen. Pita ducking stupid. Anyways I need help guys. If there's any other sick artists out there too, feel free to reccomend them. Thanks.

macklemore is a clone while kendrick is the best we will still be listening to him in 20 years. as for tde i ve been jamming to isaiah rashad recently but i think ab soul is the overall best

If you think Kendrick Lamar isn't a talented hip hop artist and lyricist you have no place in this thread or even anywhere near hip hop. Stick to listening to Alan Jackson or Pierce The Veil or whatever it is you dumb fuckers listen to these days that can't appreciate good hip hop when they hear it.

Yes! Cilvia Demo was amazing! Isaiah Rashad is sick. People better watch out for him. What did you think of These Days...?

Beast Coast is the best right now

There is so much diversity in hip hop and straight up talent that it's hard to judge which group is the "best" at any time. Oftentimes that comes with hindsight. I bet in the mid 90's it was hard to say who was the best out of NY groups or solo artists either way. Everyone kills it in their own fashion. And I would go so far as to say Pro Era is killing it, but I haven't seen much from Flatbush or Underachievers lately. They broke out and I dig them a lot but I don't see the consistency that Joey is having. Honestly it's mostly Joey Bada$$ putting in work and killin it and the Pro Era/Beast Coast crews are coming along.

Flatbush has been absolutely killing it and will have an EP out soon. They've been releasing shit all the time and it's awesome

Yeah yeah I guess they deserve credit as well, they just aren't getting the same exposure as Joey and such. They kill it for sure though but all I'm saying is if you look around at regular listeners and shit you're going to find a lot of people who haven't heard of the Zombies still, while Joey is front paging magazines and selling out shows and shit.

Flatbush hasn't been putting out actual albums but instead releasing just single tracks like once a week or every couple weeks.

Atleast they were doing that for a while.

Just tell your friend about how Macklemore sucked Kendrick's balls after the grammys. Seriously, that shit was whack.

lyrically no one can touch kendrick. but what sounds best is all opinion, someone might like kendrick or mackelmore or push t or riff raf. that can't really be debated.

Rap fans can be such self righteous douche bags. Hence this thread, and you actually having a problem with your friend liking Macklemore more than Kendrick

wheres the option for Fabolous

Fuck yeah. If we are talking early 2000's Real Talk Fabolous I fux wit it. Not so much Loso's Way and his newer singing shit but Real Talk is such a solid album. Not to mention his features with LOX and on the Biggie Duets album.

The Soul Tape

Can we discuss "These Days"? AbDASH is that dude right now. But damn....I'm just not connecting with These Days how I want to. there's some tracks that I fuck with heavy, but overall as a whole, there's an energy problem...or something. Out of curiosity I put on LT2 this morning....and it's just on a whole other level. I think I just am underwhelmed by the production on These Days. That and the fact that a few of the very best songs/moments come in the form of blurbs/unfinished songs hidden at the back of other songs. I like that labyrinth style of unexpected left turns in the middle of a song, but to me it felt more like throw it at the wall and see what sticks. Both the song at the end of Tree of Life (maybe the best track, unfortunately we've all been spinning that for a month or more...I don't want to know every bar to my favorite album track the first time I listen to the album) and then the song "These Days" at the end of Just Have Fun should've been given a full treatment. For fuck's sake.....you release "These Days" the song in the buildup, and it isn't an actual track? That had that College Dropout feel and some of the hardest bars on the album....and there's 2 choruses and a 12 bar verse..maybe 16. Ass backwards.

In other news, I'm on track 9 of LT2 and haven't even flinched to skip a track. On These Days, I would've skipped at least two, maybe 3 by now.

Ab soul gets my vote, Control System was a great album and i thought These Days was good but what the fuck was he thinking when he made closure.

Is he not allowed to appreciate others music?

Rap music is the one genre that you just don't do that shit. Thinking you're not as good as another rapper is one thing. But after winning a grammy for yourself over another rapper, then texting him and telling him that you "froze" during your speech and his album was actually better than yours, THEN posting it on YOUR instagram? Thats the softest pussy shit I ever heard. Be proud of yourself for winning a grammy. Kendrick was probably embarrassed as hell just to be involved.

That's my opinion anyway. I guess its cool he realized his album wasn't as good and paid him respect.

Meh, they're apples and oranges for me. I find it really hard to compare to hip hop artists.

if he actually felt that way, he would of gave the award to kendrick instead of sending some corny-ass, emotional text to him right after, and basking in the glory that he felt should of been kendricks. thats one of the biggest "fuck yous" in the world, man.

anyone else think it's weird that action bronson has been killing it for years but is just blowing up now? blue chips 2 was a masterpiece btw.

Rashad is the best in TDE right now IMO. Listen to them all and enjoy them all, but some of his songs are too good.

You're about rap, not hip hop. There's a difference, listen to KRS.

I've noticed that, too. I feel like his features are better than his own work though. I was high when I thought of this but does it seem like Bronson yells/raps in slow motion? It makes sense in my head..

Kendrick is in fact very talented. I just think it's wrong that people call him the "savior" of rap.

Black Hippy is bringing good rap back. Everyone in TDE is good but Kendrick and Ab-Soul take the cake. Terrorist Threats has been on repeat in my car for two weeks now.

Not only do I listen to KRS but I have watched his speech on the origins of hip hop and bought his book The Gospel of Hip Hop. Basically a hip hop bible. Trust me, I know and appreciate the difference. Way to throw out one of the most well known OG's of all time to act like you know more about hip hop than me. I don't learn and appreciate hip hop so I can act superior to others, but rather because it is a beautiful art form and form of expression. Not sure where you got the fact that I'm about "rap" and not hip hop lol.

Kuddos to you sir, its nice to see not everyone is ignorant to the true essence of MCing. Respect the music, know the roots, and, if you have the time, KRS is definitely a good start.

And then you go and say Kendrick is part of hip hop?

^

And I'm not hating on you or talking superior like you wouldn't know who KRS is he was just the best example to use for what I was trying to say. Who better than the teacher of hip hop himself? All I'm saying is that comment I quoted specifically had you saying that Kendrick Lamar was a talented hip hop artist. Now hip hop is a lifestyle (as you know) and Kendrick does not meet that lifestyle so that, that was where I disagreed with you. Not trying to come off as some backpacker know it all, I'm just saying...

both are terrible. lox, camron, ace hood, future all put out new music recently that are better than anything from tde

Are you fucking serious?

Didn't read thread and don't listen to either. However, seeing Lamar next week at a festival as long as there is no one else better performing at the same time. Will check out Flatbush zombies though
