keeping your skis safe from thieves

I finally got the Line bindings for my Skogens and I am about to take them out for the first time. Our hill doesn't have any type of ski check or anything like that and I was wondering if anyone knows any way I can lock up my skis to keep safe from people who may be interested in taking them.

he said there was no ski check. i think all hills have racks to set your skis on. get a lock and lock em up. or seperate them real good. last year i got 1080s and they were robbed. not a fun time.

 
don't take a break, thats what i do, ski from the time you get to the place until your done, you can eat and sit on the ride home, you went to the hill to ski.

Take them in with you or, put them in 2 different places far away from each other. If they see one they will think someone already got one and leave them alone, thats what i do and it works.

 
There's always the classic trick:

'Partner up' with a friend, give him one ski, take one of his... Let him place his skis far from where you place yours... Nobody wants one Scratch 164cm and one Line 1260 182cm... I've seen the small locks that you can get - they even roll up to take up no space in your pack, but to be honest with you, I got my bike stolen, it had a huge lock, and your skis are probably just as attractive as it was - using a wirecutter they're some asshole's in no time...

 
don't go inside all day...you'll get better at skiing and won't have to worry about your skis at all cause they wil be on your feet

 
My favorite is to bury one in a snowbank if there is one handy, and then put the other in a rack. It takes a little more time, but it's also makes them harder to spot.

 
Just get a lock and lock 'em up next to a pair of unlocked expensive skis or board. And if you're really concerned, engrave your ski with a serial number. That's really the best you can do unless you want to hassle and bring your skis with you everywhere. And tell your mountain to open up a ski check, they're highly profitable and there's really no reason not to.

get this...my friend and i mixed our skis and put them in completely different places.we go inside for like 15 minutes and come back out...we can only find 1 pair of our mixed skiis.we looked for like 30 minutes over and over.some asshole took the mixed pair and must have seen me walking around with a ski pole ready to kill someone...whoever took them dropped them on the ground in a remote location that we checked like 3000 times....ive never been so pissed

buy a lock. Theyre like 15 bucks. Someone could cut it off but why would they waste the time. Someone would notice them carrying around a bolt cutter too. I always try to put my skis next to some really nice ones.

yeh get a lock its the best way ( the skikey ones are like 20$ Cdn.)....if you are worried bout someone cutting it it usually won't because they would need a major pair of boltcutters to cut through the rack and it would take too much time and be too obvious... if you are still worried lock them up with someone else's skis (two jobs in one) and then just put yours somewhere else

 
the mixing and matching skis sounds like a good idea, but I ride with snowboarders because hardly anyone skis at my hill. I think will either look into getting a lock or find a way to bring them in with me.

Me and Beckaski always switch our skis, one 1080 and one scratch then she puts her's on the rack and i through my set in a snow bank when nobody is lookin, like under stuff. It works really well!

 
The switching skis works but i just bring mine into the lodge even though it says no skis in here. One time i got yelled at and said wheres the ski corral, and they walked away

The line bindings are perfect for having a lock with. They have a nice loop in the ski break, where a lock con go right through. I have the Line bindings and I use a lock. I try to keep them where I can see them as well.

aps541, I've skied on a 1260 164 and a Beast 183 before, and a 1260 164 and a 1080 177. It wasn't that much different.

yeah cams idea is good, it would be fun to kick the shit out of someone trying to jack your skis...another trick that my friend did with his skis is he took a base welder, and welded his first name on one ski, and his last name on the other ski (on the bases) that way if they did get stolen, you could pick them out really easily if someone left them around, or if someone saw that it might discourage them from stealing the skis.

 
I have taken some of the advice and usually don't take breaks, but when I do, I put them up against a window where I can see them. But know I am not to overly worried about theft because our hill is mostly snowboard oriented and I don't think there is very many people who would want to steal a pair of skis.

for ne one who says ski keys are hard to cut uve never seen it done all it takes is a screwdriver and your bodyweight anyways its easier to either bring ur skis inside with you or lean them up agains the glass window outside where ur going to b sitting
