Keeping shots in focus on dslr camera

I've searched around just wanna know if there is any tips or tricks to getting good in focus follow shots.

Learn about hyperfocal distance. dont shoot wide open try to keep the fstop around 5.6 to 8. Wider angle lenses have a wider focal range. And try to keep the camera about the same distance from the subject.
