kayaking looks mad fun, reno is a sick town for it too since we have like all these man made things in the truckee river downtown for it and like all these slide rocks covered in green shit aka algey (sp?)
I went whitewater kayaking last year for the first time and it is some pretty crazy shit, like before I went I could roll and everything but once you get in there and the power of the water busts on you its pretty ridiculous, I have mad respect for guys that do that shit
Thats Evan's blog. You know him? I've playboated a little with him here in MT. Check it out, its been updated from his trip to Chili and he runs the gnar shit.
it also was mis wired and electrocuted the guy enough that it seized his finger to full on the trigger and the only way he stopped was by aiming at the shore.
I enjoy kayaking, my boat's an Old Town Jolt 11.5. I use it for whitewater(small), fishing, ocean, creeks, camping, and even snow sometimes. Good times fo show.
You sir are a madman. That shit looks awesome, at 11+1/2 feet my boat might plunge through that stuff but no way in hell would I be playing in it. I'll race ya across a lake though any day of the week
those few shots are pretty low risk stuff. Done plenty of much bigger/higher consequence I just don't have the pics at the moment. Alot of the time the risk has to take into consideration what cames after a wave or drop, not just the drop itself.
He'll yeah. I kayaking is such a great way to travel, especially if you're out camping. You do not have to worry about weight that much...just load everything up, it's not like it will be on your back! I mostly do sea kayaking...whitewater is nuts, and whoever says the danger isn't there is just blind! Out of all activities that I do, I am most afraid of the dangers involved with any rafting/kayaking. It really does scare me to no end. But with that said, it is quite exhilirating! To add to the thread, here is a picture of me doing some sea kayaking.
Shit, well for some reason, my computer says error when I load it..maybe someone could help..but its under summer photos here.
I dont know. Kayaks are generally more expensive than skiing, then you need a good life jacket, helmet, and paddles are expensive too. Im talking about whitewater kayaking. It's just a shit load a equipment to buy to start a new sport. Season passes can be cheap for skiing too.
yeah kayaking is the shit my dad told me of stories of when he would go off waterfalls and through rapids and shit, and my dad is an old guy so pretty much make him the man for doing it for so long
You guys should come to Crested Butte / Gunnison this spring, we have had more snow by february than we have had in 50 years, they are expecting the most insane runoff of all time, crazy asss rapids/waterfalls - kayaking scares the shit out of me though
I do alot of sea kayaking, on lake superior, and the boundary waters, and I've gone whitewater a few times too. both are crazy fun, and nothing is better in summer than spending a day on the river.
Hell yes sir I will agree with that 100%, it's at least two days out of the week all summer that my boating friends and I head out after work. I cut a hole in my boat and installed a rod holder and am thinking of putting in another, at 11.5 feet of boat I can actually pull my feet out and sit or lay on my back deck and just drink and fish.
I would say I had the best summer of my life last year due to me owning a kayak.
yeeah it is. I work on the ottawa river as a rafting guide and paddle all summer. this is me droppin into the Buseater wave, this thing is HUGE and only forms in early season high water
