get a canoe. A kevlar canoe will be lighter than a kayak, easier to fish out of, can be used for paddling trips and also is good for those canoe date trips down the river to the little sandy island for lunch.

if you are going to get a kayak, get a whitewater one and hit up some rapids.

sounds like you need a canoe though dude, if you are gonna be keeping the fish you catch too, you don't get a great amount of storage in a kayak, unless you get an ocean touring kayak, but those are 14-15 feet long and not good for narrow rivers, only larger rivers. River kayaks are much smaller than that.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

yea ive noticed that but i was looking and i saw an "all around" kayak which had a few storage things and it wasnt too big

I don't know

let me say that my white water boat is only 6 feet long and made from extra light materials and still gets heavy after a couple hundred metres. It's the fact that you carry kayaks on your shoulder ,while you portage canoes using both shoulders and back.
