Katrina VS. California

I guess i have to start the thread a bit deeper.

Katrina: little government assistance in getting order up and running again, and cleaning the mess. Residents manly lower income African American residents.

California: Rich owners with homes insured to the max. Lots of important white people.

what will happen?

whats the issue? rich people can pay to have their shit fixed with their bigggggg fancy insurance policies? ohhhh capitalism at its worst! douche.

Common thread, people building houses in disaster areas. You live in the gulf coast, prepare for hurricanes and flooding. You live in socal, you better be prepared for fire.

Ahhh Fire Season. One of california's 10 seasons. You have fall, fire season, late fall, early winter, winter, more winter, spring, winter again, late spring, and finally summer.

eh, i still think our country has a north and a south thing. I'm not going to go into

cause its going to piss of people, but it just seems like when ever somethign majoir

happens to the south it dosn't get fixed for the longest time

and when something happens to the upper part it gets fixed really quick.

cali isn't so bad, you just have to ignor the people ;)

there's no fucking comparison at all.

katrina and the tsunami is a better comparison and the tsunami was still 100x worse than katrina.

Both sad, rich or poor it affects peoples lives and family's. That's why America is going down hill. Something happens and they wanna pull the rich and poor card or the black and white card. Who cares, they still are living through a disaster and need help. Rich or poor, there still American people that are in a stage of needing help.

Why do you keep commenting? People are already well aware of the divide between rich and poor; there's no need to aggravate it to make a bigger rift. And where are you getting that people care more about California than Katrina or the Tsunamie, that is ludicrous. No one really gives a damn about California. You know why? Because they are wealthy. Like plenty of people said these folks are probably insured and will hopefully be ok. It doesnt mean the news shouldnt cover it; a quarter of the state is on fire, you bet your ass it's news worthy and tragic. Are you saying that because the government screwed up on Katrina, they should let other innocent people die? That's real cool of you...

in my opinion you can't speculate in a way to say that because its rich people mainly George Bush called it an emergency. although i can't stand Bush theres a chance hes preemptively striking due to the Katrina situation and how poorly that was handled, so that this time he doesn't get harassed for not doing anything about a situation on this scale

You're trying to compare the recovery of a disaster to the possible prevention of a disaster and you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Shut the fuck up.

Fire tore through Malibu yesterday and celebs evacuated. We've compiled some pix of a few of the stars who live in Malibu so you can see just what's at stake here -- homes worth tens of millions, in some cases, and obviously their possessions and safety are threatened. Best of luck and safety to all our Malibu pals ...

i don't give a shit what you say in this thread as long as you keep the victims of both Katrina and the fires in CA in your thoughts and prayers.

BUT,

your generalizing about the population of southern california is ridiculous and so rude. thousands of people of every race and monitary status lost everything they had.

here is a little perspective: my friends grandmother lost her home and avocado farm. think about it. she is an elder person and couldn't save most of her possessions. being older, she amassed alot of stuff- pictures, furniture, clothing, jewelry, money, birth certificates, passports, pets, everything. she lost it ALL. further, the avocado farm was her source of income. and now that, along with everything she had, is gone.

so don't be obtuse and don't be rude.

keep the victims of both tragedies in your prayers. they need your help.

In 2 years most of those white people in cali who go their 2 mil houses burned down will be living in brand new houses. 2 years after katrina many still live in FEMA trailers. Not to say the fires are not hurting people but the people they are hurting will rebound alot faster than all the poor people in NO.

alright....the thing is that there building in places such at new orleans and so cal were areas like that will eventually have a disaster. i mean wat the fuck kind of idito would build a city below sea level? and so cal...did the people there really think that they could control wild fires that big i mean they prob could keep them under control but eventually there had to be one that would be to big...its retards who build cities in retarted areas that cause problems.
