Kartel 98 or 108

I have been a long time lurker for a pair of ON3P’s but really struggling to decide whether the 98’s or 108’s are right for me. 5’ 10” 200lbs mostly Vermont skier with a couple trips out west. I ride all mountain. Love to rip down trails and explore the trees. I like to hit the park but lower on my agenda since I am getting older (27.) I am leaning towards the 98’s but unsure how they perform in powder. What would you do if you were me?

I'm from the northeast and I have the 181 106's from a couple years back and I'm 5'10" 140lbs. They work amazing for everything. Tight trees, groomers, powder, park (although tech rail tricks are more difficult). But really awesome all-around ski.

If you wanna charge, go fatty!

I ski in Maine and roughly match how you ski. (All mountain, not a lot of park). I have the 108's and love them.

Anyone have any recommdations for bindings to go with the 108’s?

I have the 108 with a Rossi FKS 180 115. They don't make the Rossi's anymore but I would suggest the Look Pivot 115. (Same binding).

bigger than you but I was in the same boat 18 months ago...

went 181 and 108s... was thinking longer but this complement my 191 Billy Goats perfectly... perfect all round ski for everything...

was thinking 98 originally but was persuaded by ON3P to go 108 and glad I trusted them...

Where do you ski? I keep going back to 98’s for east coast. Someone give me a good reason that I should go 108’s?

I actually live in Scotland and never used them there.... use race skis or Kung Fujas here...

So far the Kartels have been to -

Val D'Isere, France, Skied all 6 days there on them with everything from ice to 6 inches fresh...

Whistler, Canada - skied 3 of the 6 days on these there... the 3 snow days I used the Billy Goats, the other 3 days I loved the Kartels just cruising about all over the mountain...

AltaBird, PCMR, Brighton, Utah - well skied 10 days there, think I only used my billy goats 3 days, 21 inch Sunday at Alta was epic. The kartels were perfect for spring conditions in Utah, didn't complain once except one run at PCMR where it was 9am sheet ice... great fun skis. I used them one day with a. few inches fresh and no complaint at all but had the BG in the car for the deeper days....

This year I have booked Val D'Isere again for New Years week and only plan on taking my Kartels...

Will go some where mid February and take both BG and Kartels and same again for SLC in early April....

did that help??? just rambling....

I ski on the east coast and have the 108 and love them. They do everything extremely well and the extra width never bothers me, it just makes it so pow days are more fun. If you do a lot of park go 98, but if you don't I think the 108's are a blast.
