Karma rating on comments in pics/vids

like if someone posts just a really stupid comment that has nothing to do with anything or is straight up ignorant.
or maybe give the media poster the privilege to delete comments?
 
I don't think that people should be allowed to delete comments. If you post something in pics or vids it is up for critique by other people on the site. It would be good for weeding out plain hate comments but a lot of kids would probably delete honest opinions and criticisms.
 
i thought the same. which is why i just said karma rating first. not a big deal either way. just a thought.
 
I agree, karma rating would be a good idea. Most people on this site are too lazy to go into the person profile and change their karma.
 
Sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking something along the lines of what they have for the pictures on www.pinkbike.com (atleast how it was when I last looked).

Basically, next each comment you had the choice to give the comment a thumbs up or thumbs down. The totally useless comments got a bunch of thumbs down and the good, relevant ones usually got a good rating. BUT the best part of this little system is that near the top, right before the comments section began, was a little bar that gave a bunch of options. The options were things like "View comments with +5 or more" or "View all comments" or "View all comments with +15 or more" kinda things so you could block the shit comments and only view the good ones.

That system could be tied into the karma system as well. Like if a certain persons comment got a negative rating their karma would fall slightly as a result.
 
i'm all for karma being next to comments. theres plenty of times when some one says stupid or just plain hateful but yet i'm too lazy to go into their profile.
 
ya it would make things more convenient for sure if you could rate karma directly on pics/vids
