it's a dam good cd. and i dont think you've heard much of his music, co flow. the sould sample lady is definitely kind of his trademark, but most of his songs, not just his songs but other songs he's produced, don't have that on it. for example, all falls down, encore by jay z, stand up by ludicrous.

 
Kanye is a sick producer. His work with Talib, Luda, and Jay-Z has been awesome but this album disapointed me. I'm listening to it right now but I don't think it is near as good as it was hyped up to be.

 
i'm feelin his shit... i do have to agree the girls voices get anoying. for all my people 'Drug dealing just to get by' haha his flows are smooth deff has a roc a fella feel. he also produced Jay-Z: 03' bonnie and cylid, talib - just to get by, and a bunch of other Jay-Z shit. him and Pherell are my two favorate producers right now. also he has funny as shit to say about being in college he makes you want to drop out of college and start rapping haha

Pete Rock and Premier are awesome. Kanye just has some High Profile artists he works with. Personally I'd rather listen to underground all stars like Hi Tek than to MTV producers like Timbaland and Kanye, though I do really like some of their work.

Ohhhh so success means the best? damn i'll have to disagree there. his lyrics are nothing special and the production is a bit repetitive with that bitches voice over and over. I'm not a big fan of any of the rappers (if thats what you want to call them) he has worked with either so maybe i'm a bit biased. I mean its a big step up from the other trendy shit going around these days, gunit,50cent,nelly ect. But i wouldnt go out and tbuy the album by any means.

i listened to kanye west a long time ago when i liked rap. some of his really old stuff is good but i dont like the new stuff because rap sucks

 
well kweli and mos def are arguably the 2 best rappers EVER so i dont know about that co-flow. that effect he does is not a girls voice..its just a change in tone ( which i agree is played out and just shitty..) so yeah it wasnt the cd i was expecting, but still better than most of the shit out these days. plus no LIL JON!! which is awesome

You lsted to MOS before Blackstar? That's funny because it was his first LP and his solo album Black on Both Sideds came out after it...Unless you live on the South Side of Chicago you're probably full of it...

 
pre blackstar?? cmon man.. blackstar was one of the best rap cd's EVER. and if you argue that then you have something wrong with you. What is El-P and the rest of that defjux shit better? cmon kid..aesop and cannibol ox are all that jux has for talent. Just becuase something is popular does not mean it sucks, look at jay-z. ( still the best rapper ever)

alright... heres the deal children... im bringing this thread back to life because i need some credible hip hop minds to advise me on yay or nay for this album.... i love mos, del, black thought, slick rick, cannibus, atmos, class etc.. and when kanye came out and was all over MTV/muchmusic i thought, sick... another silly sally sucka MC who's riding the wave of Jay Z etc... i heard that track, 'when it all falls down' and i was suprised to hear that his lyrics were actually concious and has some meaning and thought.... annndd hes featuring on the dialated track... so where do i go from here? whats his cred like?!? help suckas!

I liked the cd a lot. Every song is good, and you can definitely tell he has a grudge against people goin to college and gettin degrees, but nonetheless its still a quality cd. My favorite part about is I can listen to the whole cd through without skipping a song. Except the songs on MTV... I'm kinda sick of those actually. I just burned it from a friend and probably wouldn't actually buy it.

great cd i think. some of the beats remind me of the more mainstream rappers such as jay-z etc, but the lyrics definitely set him apart. not the predictable drugs and rims and shit. i would advise buying it.

I really enjoy it too, it has at least 8-10 quality songs on it (which you cant say about most rap albums these days)
