K2 shreditors?

Hey fellas,

I'm 5'9 and weight ~140 lbs, and an experienced skier but a beginner in the park (sliding boxes tubes, 360s on small jumps, etc.). I ski mostly whistler, and some of grouse and cypress mountain near Vancouver. I have the opportunity to buy a brand new pair of k2 shreditor 102's (retro graphic model, 177). I have a pair of stiff, fat skis (directional) with tech bindings, but i'm looking for a 50% park, 50% resort kinda ski.

Is this a good choice?

If you want to ski on a noodle then go for it. If you want a real "ski" get poachers. 102's are fun to screw around on if the snow is soft/slush.

I've skied both in slush and poachers are better for sure even tho the 102s are fun

Chicken likes to bash the Shreditors. I have a pair of 2014 179's mounted -2 back. They are super fun for jibbing around and finding fun lines. I'm 5'9 160. Sure the ski is soft but I haven't had it be a problem but I'm not the guy that has 10 different skis to choose from. Get the Shreditors and have fun.

With the exception of one day, the Shreditor 102 have been the only ski I've ridden the past two years. I've skied it off the top of Mammoth, ridden low angle tree runs, hit rails, and done jumps. It's a very versatile ski. I'm about 6' and ride the 184. They feel great. For your size and weight, I think the 177 should work well.

Those Shreditors would definitely be a good option. I skied a pair of older Shreditor 112's most days last season and loved them until they broke. Definitely my favorite all round ski ever. I always thought the 102's would be even better for all but really deep days but haven't skied them. The 112's were fun in the park, and plenty light enough to throw around for not super technical stuff. They were good in fresh snow, though I wished they were the 189's (I'm 5'11, about 150lbs, and had 179's). The 112's were super fun to carve up groomers on too actually. They did chatter a little at speed but I've never cared about that. I think the 102mm waist in a 177 would be a good size for you and what you want to use them for.

If I was you I’d hunt down a pair of last years marksman. Or this years if you find a good deal.

If if you’re used to stiff skis. They are stiff enough underfoot to give you good perform while soft enough tip and tail to have fun with

the 102 is a rad ski but suited for slow speeds and jibbing around. (Epic spring ski)

Poachers are on sale now for $400. Plus on backcountry.com you can get them for $320 with the current sale. I say nab ‘em even if they’re a bit more than the Shreditors. Poachers get great reviews for being a versatile ski that really rips and is fun everywhere.
