K2 Press Mount Bindings...

I got k2 press and asked the people to centre mount the bindings I have, and when I picked them up the bindings were: From top of toe binding to tip of ski = 30 inches... From bottom of heel binding to tail of ski = 26 inches... I ski park more often now, and its a pain in the nutz to get onto a rail cuz its so unbalanced... Help?

well im a tech and i mount bindings quite often. it is very possible hat the shop fucked up but what you need to do is put your bott in the binding and see if the midsole of the boot is over the center of the ski. which will be marked on the side.

i'm not even a tech and i don't think measuring those distances will do you any good. you have to check where your boot ends up.

Im sure im sure... I put the boot in the binding and found the mark on the boot and mmeasured from tip to mark on boot and tail to mark on boot. Does anyone else have a way of measuring thats better? Pretty pissed lol! Not to mention the biggest core shot in the fackinnn world...

there really shouldnt be measuring involved k2 has a line on the sidewall of their skis that says core center or true center or something. just look and see if the midsole of your boot lines up with it feel free to take a pic and put it on here

If your looking for true center put both boots in, turn one ski backwards, line them up and see where the boot centers are. More importantly where is the boot center vs the mark on the ski?

Try this. That will tell you for sure. If you wanted true center, it is very possible the tech didn't pay close enough attention and messed up. It happens a lot. Go in and argue with them. If you argue enough, and the paperwork says true center, you might be able to get another pair of skis out of it and get them mounted correctly. But if not at least get them remounted properly for free, then possibly try to get some store credit as compensation.

Oh and future reference, the safest way to avoid this problem ever again, is to make you own line on the skis where you want them mounted. Either draw on the skis if you don't care, or put a piece of tape down, then measure and draw the line you want on that.

The mark on your k2 displays "core center" which is not "true center"." true center" is about 7cm forward of "core center".

thank you for bringing some semblance of wisdom to this thread. the press is the old fujative. true center on that ski is about 5cm forward of 'core center'. i love k2's skis, but god did they confuse the hell out of an entire sport by their goofy mounting point system. true center is dead center, lengthwise, on the ski. whoever is saying true center is the center of the sidecut, well, you're on crack, because 99 times out of 100, the center of the sidecut is the recommended mounting point on the ski, which, unless the ski is a true twin, is not dead center of the ski.

lesson learned - whenever you bring in a pair of skis to get mounted, you measure out where you want the midsole of your boot to be, you draw a black line with a sharpy and write "PUT MIDSOLE OF MY BOOT HERE." Then explain it to them when you get in there.

100% this

The first time I did that the tech actually thanked me so he wasnt wasting time trying to figure out center vs true center.

if your not sure the easiest way is to stand the skiis up with the boots in the bindings flip one upside down and if the boots still line up its center
