K2 Poacher 177 or 184?

Hey, long time since I have been on here, but I'm looking for a new set of skis and not sure what size to get.

I am 5 11' 160 pounds. I ski Whistler and Cypress (smaller local Vancouver mountain), love to ski fast and boost off moguls, over lips and etc. I also like to ski in tighter stuff as well though. Never ski rails and in the past haven't really spun off jumps (like to tell myself I will learn each season but typically have too much fun racing around the mountain and skiing the steep stuff to ever get around to it).

I always find it tough to gauge how good of a skier I am because whenever I start to feel good about myself, I'll see some kids at whistler going twice as big, but overall I consider myself an advanced skier, I can ski all the double blacks up at whistler fairly easily.

Im looking to get the poacher to replace my laughably small 169 kung fujas finally. I also ski have a pair of 183 bent chetlers which dont feel too small. Overall I'm leaning towards the 177s, as I haven't felt the need for my chetlers to be longer, but not sure if I would be better served on the 184's given my height, weight, and ability.

Any thoughts, wouldn't mind a second opinion?

In the grand scheme of things, it's 7 cm. But you should get the longer ones. Way more potential to rip on a size up than be limited on the smaller sticks. Plus you can mount forward to mitigate how long they feel.

I'm the same height/weight as you, and I would get the 184. But if you were comfortable skiing every day on a 169cm ski, then maybe the 177 would feel more at home for you? K2 tend to be true to size or longer.

you might want to buy a pair of 2017 poachers, the 2018s seem to have a defect where the tip and tail rivets pop off

They rivets can pop off if you land with your feet super close but it won't effect the skis. I discussed this with the ski engerners at the sales meeting and the design may change but there is no reason to worry about the rivets.
