K2 Pettitors?

Has anyone got the chance to shred a pair of these yet? I've been checking them out online and they look pretty sick but I'd be interested to hear what someone whos actually gotten to ride them thinks. Anyone?

i really enjoyed them. the feel big, but i am 5'9" 140 and i was stoked on the 179. it has a lot of rocker, but is extremely strong and stiff underfoot. chargy for sure. not unfriendly on groomed snow either. k2 has their sidecut dialed. it does ride more centered/bidirectional than the obsethed, as sean p wanted to have switch skiing in mind. hope this helps.

Yeah it sure did thanks. I'm 6 feet 170 and I've been looking at the 189 but I've had a couple bad experiences with K2s before so I don't know if I wanna pull the trigger on them. Hows the float in the deep stuff with such a centered mount? Is there much tip dive?

no tip dive that i found, although i didnt get them on a really deep day. they arent like the old hellbents that would dive like that. the camber and stiffness of the ski keep it strong and powerful through the snow. they also give you a range to mount in so you have some freedom there. its just not such a blatant directional sidecut/rocker profile like the obsethed had.

I'm 5'2 130lbs I also demoed the 179, and while it is a large ski it was much more manageable than the obsethed in the same size. (I wanted to demo smaller but that's all they had). I rode the petitor for a half day, rode 2013 hellbents and obsethed in the morning and the petitor from noon until close. I wanted to stay on the hellbents all day, but everyone kept fighting over them, if that tells you anything. The petitor was the second favorite in the group though. I did a group k2 demo day where we skied with a rep and a dozen or so of us just played musical chairs with the skis on the slope.

It was a heavy wet powder day we had about 2 feet fresh. The Petitor definitely liked to charge, but didn't float quite as well as the hellbents. On the other hand it did much better in the chop fields on the way to the lift than the hellbents. The obsethed by comparison I hated, loved to tip dive, hated to float (keep in mind this is in wet PNW snow).

I demoed a lot of powder skis over the season and the petitor was one of my favorites. Ultimately I personally prefer a softer more playful ski like the hellbent, but if you want something more stable in variable conditions the petitor is just the right mix of stiffness and rocker.

Quoted for future reference in calling out 5'8 guys trying to decide between 179s ans 189s.
