K2 PE top coat? Is there anything that can be done?

I have read many reviews and they have all said that the top coat just gets destroyed.

I just picked up a new pair of PE's and have yet to have bindings put on figuring the ones I want come out next season.

Does anyone know of anything that can be done about the top coat maybe a laquer or something?

I would like them to maintain there flex and not chip.
 
yeah, that topsheet sucks ok pretty much all k2s that i know of. theres really nothing you can do other than realize that it has no effect on the skis performance.
 
every brand of skis topsheet chips. it doesnt effect the ski unless you get a lot of inside the ski and rots your wood core. then your fucked
 
well it depends what year you have, i think they got a lot better this year (the ones i have). some of the p-tex kinda gets cut a little but it actually doesn't look bad after like 2 months.

i like to think of it this way- every time i see a chip come off i lose a little weight off my heavy ass skis.
 
i dont get why people care so much about the topsheets of their skis.. as long as the bases and edges stay intact, thats fine. but if you really want, just fill them in with some ptex
 
i've heard of people doing this with hellbents so im sure it would work with pe's, you can round the edges on the topsheet by filing them down that way they wont chip as much
 
just don't worry about it dude it doesn't really matter and its not that bad. I had the 05/06 pes that chipped like mofos and they never caused me a problem. sure there are nicks in the topsheet but its no biggie
 
good i was more worried about it actually making the skis weaker i wasnt sure if its was the top coat or just the picture because i dont really care about that.
 
Don't be a gaper. Stop smacking your skis together on the chairlift and everything will be fine.
 
take a file and dull down the edge around the tips and tails a shitload. u dont need thos edges and the sharper they are the more the chip up your skis
 
i found something called ski saver its a laminate that you put on the top and they said that should do the trick for the most part.
