K2 MINDBENDER 130 LV vs ATOMIC HAWX ULTRA XTD 130 CT

Hi everyone,

I'm deciding between these two boots. I'm open to any other suggestiong of course, but please note that it's required that the boots have a walking mode, and I want boots with a narrow fit.

Currently riding on Salomon Shift Pro 130, but they're too wide for my feet, so I have to switch from them as soon as possible.

My riding style is a bit more on the charging side, but I'm playful as much as I can be, and spending most of my free time in parks or on backountry kickers to perfect new tricks. All the tricks that I'm practising and learning are to be used in the backcountry and freeriding.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Opinions about boots are not like opinions about skis. The only thing that matters is which fits your foot better. I love my fischers but I wouldn’t recommend them to everyone as I know they don’t fit everyone. Go to a bootfitter

Yeah, whichever fits better. But it is worth noting that the Mindbender is more of a downhill oriented 50/50 boot while the Hawx is more of an aggressive touring boot. The Mindbender will be more similar to your Shift while the Hawx is a bit lighter and more uphill-friendly, but not as capable on the down.

Thanks so much, very usefull info. Since I'm focusing on the downhill, this puts the Mindbender on top for now.

Very different boots for sure. I was able to test the new hawx xtd boa against our mindbender boa and they are vastly different. Firstly they both are great boots but depending what you are looking for will determine which will be better (if they fit of course)

the mindbender really is an alpine boot with a walk mode and tech inserts. I’m back to back testing it’s basically exactly like our recon alpine boot. The flex is slightly stiffer and not quite as progressive due to the walk mode but the difference is so small it’s barely noticeable. But this performance does come at the expense of how well it walks and this is why we built the dispatch boot to give an option which walks far better but at the slight expense of downhill performance.

The hawx too me felt more along the lines of our dispatch it still skis well but it really walks very well. Downhill performance is not that of an alpine boot but it’s still decent.

So if you are going to tour more go hawx, if you favor good downhill then go mindbender.

but whichever you go for get the Boa version. They are so much better than the buckle versions.

Thanls, this is some very useful info. Honestly I was aiming for the buckle verion, but only because I've never tried the Boa system. Is it really that better?

Yeah it’s really a lot better and in my opinion the only reason to get buckles at this point is if you are getting a crazy deal on them. Other than that no question go boa.

the mindbender lv is very roomy for a lv boot, compared to the ultra it feels almost like a medium fit
