No way bro...that's strictly a pow ski. It's way bigger than the Pistols...137mm at the tip and 108mm at the waist.

You think made'ns are too big for Colorado skiing? I am planning on doing more Big Mountain comps and need something fat but don't want to go overboard. Suggestions?

 
if we have a good winter here in CO like I am hoping, nothing is too big for CO skiing bro! However, I think the Pistols would be better as they are more versatile and not quite as bulky as the Made'ns

 
Other fat ski options: Motherships, Gotamas, Karmas, there are several good ones to choose from. I saw the Made'ns the other day for the first time...they are a BIG stick.

 
Shawnm1260^^^^ id like to see someone (other than pros) use made'ns in the park, its just dumb. a 108mm waist is overboard, the pistols is about as big as anyone should go for park riding, and those are 95mm. also, if you got those skis and used them in the park your a total retard cuz they cost $599 USD and thats just asking to get your investment to get beaten up way faster than they normally would.

Thank you Permanente...finally someone figured it out! Shawnm is an idiot. Any ski over 100mm in the waist is probably not made for park and the Maden's are much bigger than that! If you haven't noticed shawn, most pure park skis are light and not very fat.

 
there are plenty of ppl who ride the made'n AKs in the park including lots of the K2 guys. the made'n AKs in the 179 length are pretty similar in weight to the pistols and the same length obviously so there should be no reason why ppl should deter away from using them in the park. it honestly doesn't matter how fat of a ski you use in the park since you're not gonna be carving whatsoever. if anything, it will help you have a more stable platform to stomp tricks better

 
i was watching abma throw 270 disasters onto some park rails (on tv) with made'n ak's...looked ill to the gnar.

just wait till you see the 4frnts ima be rocking in the park come mid january....you will be fucking drooling son, soft fat skis are soooo good for butters and are so stable, sorry but that is a trend that is catching on...slowly but its coming, i know several people that rock the made'ns on a daily basis.. ive watched andy do nose butters to 450's onto little tiny rails and pop blind 360 switchups on em... they are not to heavy. just centermount them and they will you fine.

FAG, they are made for powder. I understand that a wide underfoot gives a huge amount of stability , but they are not made for rail's.

motherships that are 97mm waste (182cm+)is about as wide as you would prob want to take in the park. Wider then that, just stick to powder with the skis.

These should not be your only ski...especially if you ride the park a lot. That said you have them out on a pow day and want to hit some rails, go do it. Don't buy them as a park ski or all mountain ski, I agree with that.

 
That's what I was originally trying to say...if you are skiing a lot of park, what's the point in buying Made'ns. Might as well save a bit of cash and buy a ski built for all-mountain or park. If you live in an area where you are lucky enough to ski pow most of the time and just hit the park when there's no new snow, by all means, Made'ns!!

 
well in the northwest..the made'ns (or in my case 4frnts soon to be match for them) these skis make sence, you can ski in the trees and mob the shit on the side of the run and take them in the backcountry and still hit up the park. i agree that in really iced conditions they would suck, but who cares..take the bad with the good. if i rode for k2 id be all over these... the only thing i wouldnt use them for is urban..fujas for that.

i'd love to be able to afford some made'n'AKs to 'mess around with', plus i'd have some serous doubts about the edges. if you wanna try, more power to ya.

Using in the park or training in the park. I cant see anyone who would choose to ride the AKs in the park. But... Pros training with them sure.

If you are going to ride comps remember when your turn comes up you might not get the freshest of lines. go with a ski that rides the crud and pow and transitions the pow and crud without balance wobbles. go 90 to 95 in the waist.

If you are looking for a video shoot ski go wider.

ok ok i admit i would ride them in park but i would never pay that much money for a ski i new i was going to destroy. And they have a hella lot of swing weight (more than pistol is alot) so i wouldnt use them for anything but screwing around.
