K2 Hellbents as my only ski?

Somebody might be able to tell me is it practicle or possible to have only the hellbents as my only ski for the season? As in if it doesnt snow for a while will i be struggling to ski those bad boys on piste etc? This may sound like a stupid question but it would be good to hear from somebody who has skied them what they are like to carve a few turns on!

i havent skied them, but given their contact area on the snow, skiing on hardpack with them could be difficult

They're a lot to lug around. I skied every day on Madens last year, but I'd still shy away from those bad boys for any random day. The joy I get when skiing fat skis would be negated by the absolute lack of control on groomers and shitty days.

However, Madens and Hellbents (or in my case, EP's)... would be a bitchin combination.

sure yoy can ski them on piste, it will be as much fun as whipping you face against sand paper.

if it going to be your only ski then maybe seths, brigades or arv's are much more up your street, you'll be mad to buy hellbents and ski them on piste, they are simply only built for pow

i skied guns last year and will this year to

but there is a big differnece from 85 to 122

I know a homie who's plannin on rockin them all over the place. it'll be different, but as long as you aren't expecting them to be like a skinny park ski I'm sure you'd have fun.

given the shorter contact area, they cut easier on hardpack.  they will flap around a little bit, but all in all they are very skiable everywhere.

yea it would definitely be really wierd skiing on the groomers unless if you love doing butters and youre constantly doing them all the time.

or you can learn how to ski on less edge, which is difficult... but it'll make you a better skier when you go back to normal shape skis nonetheless, and you'll have a lot of fun for sure. my friend ripped the pontoons some days and he'd beat me down every groomed run, not excluding the fact that hes an epic skier, regardless, you can do it... comfortably... just learn how to use your equipment and trust me you'll like those skis!

i guess that could work.. i saw an edit w/ pep and andy a litle while ago, and they were using them in the park... looked sick

I was talking to Bibby over the summer at HN when he decided to visit our side of the glacier, and he was riding them at the time. He told me that they were so much fun, that he could ski them every day, and even when he was thinking about riding his PE's he decided not to because they were so much more fun in the park.

i havent skiied them but i think they would be really sketch and clumsy on piste. they would be fun as hell to butter on boxes though.

i saw some guy at kestone with them and he was going faster than me with ease and doing crazy butters and stuff while hauling ass, it was sweet.  so id say go for it, it will be fun as hell and thats what skiing is all about!

just get some used chronic wides or something for the not so deep days ...last year I saw pep throwing down on these in the park so I guess there ok for him on a day to day basis but i doubt you are like pep....

Hellbents are awesome. I wish I had a pair. I would just expand your quiver a little, and just get some invaders or fujatives. find a used pair(even though the new ones aren't too expensive). You can use them on the days that using hellbents isn't practical, and just have another pair as a back up.

they sorta feel like snowblades on the hard pack since u only got about 100cm of contsct wich is under foot...i personnely would say unless ur skiin pow alot, and i mean ALOT then u prob couldent have it as a one ski quiver

bro ur using a huge big ass ski that is not goin to cut on hard pack very well  keep ur hellbents for a powder day and get somehting cheaper and lighting small for park mabye public enemys, some danyasterys or however u spell it , or some armadas     bro keep the hellbents for the deep days

again, they cut easier on hardpack......they may not be responsive like a gs or slalom ski, but they cut damn well.

Thanks for all the helpful info. I will be in colorado for january travelling round and then utah or tahoe in feb. And i dont ski much park so i dont care how they ride in the park.

If I could afford hellbents, I would ski them on anyday. I think there is a lot of potential for new kinds of fun on groomerz with the ski. I broke the tail on my fujis so they are kinda rockered now.

hmmm, well i would never use them as my one ski for colorado, not enough pow days unless you have a sled, for PNW and SLC it's a maybe though.

danyasterys

televpack1: you seem to be fairly confused, or have severe spelling problems

dynastar is what you meant i am assuming. anyway had a little giggle over it

If you could filter out all the responses from people who haven't actually skied the skis, then this thread would tell you that they will be just fine :)

I wish I had hellbents as my only ski but i would much rather have ep pros as my only ski even though they would be a bitch on groomers

Hellbents are just fine on groomers. I was on pontoons every day last season and they did great on the groomers. In fact, I took two runs today on the pontoons, before I had to get back to work.
