Just picked up a pair, my first true pair of pow skis. What bindings are you guys pairing up with these bad boys, or any other 120mm waist skis? I am curious to see what everyone’s got going on.

Height/weight/ability?

Prolly should just get Attack 13/16's, tho.

Got a pair. Got STH'2s on em. For a 120mm waist, shit rips all over. obviously a pow ski, but fun everywhere. Enjoy man!

Attack 13 or 16 are the best all around bindings IMO, especially for powder skis. Lightweight, durable, low stack height, and good power transfer and elasticity.

I have a brand new pair with the right width brakes, all black, if you’re interested. Will let go for cheap. PM me if you’re interested

Thanks for the feedback guys. Also I found it a bit strange that even though it is an asymmetrical ski there is no left and right indicator... this years model has little feet but last years does not.

K2 probably thought if you couldn't find out what ski belonged on what foot you most likely had bigger problems.

how different other then weight is the Catamaran and new bentchetler?

From what everyone says the Catamaran is amazing as slashing, jibbing around and sounds pretty much exactly the same as the bentchetler?

Is weight pretty much the only difference? or is one a little quicker around in the trees? I heard even though the Catamaran is much heavier at 2300g vs BC 1750g it is still super quick in the trees.

Honestly they just sound like the same ski from what everyone is saying, just different weight?

Anybody know?

Or they realized that most people would be getting their mounts done at REI that come with those "L" and "R" stickers.

Lot's of times you'll just here the same few buzzwords over and over; playful, poppy, slashy, nimble, etc. The Catamaran is over a pound heavier per ski, that doesn't mean it's unwieldy, it just speaks to how insanely light the new Bentchetler is. Weight (or lack there of) comes with the obvious advantages and disadvantages, blah, blah, blah. Trust me, these skis do not feel similar on snow.

Would it be worth having the bentchetler as a touring / slack country ski and the catamaran as a resort pure powder day ski?

Or is that just being rediculous? The bentchetler seems amazing for powder touring at its weight but the catamaran just sounds / looks like so much dang fun.

Cat is a lot looser, easier to throw sideways, and softer. It's heavier, a bit damper, but so soft that it doesn't feel more chargy. Chet has a higher speed limit, is more composed in terrible snow, and is a little happier going fast and taking chances. But it's a very light ski so you've got to stay on top of it.

Right now my "most-used" four ski quiver is:

Catamaran for pow/jib days inbouds

Deathwish for everything else

Sego Bighorn 106 for day-to-day touring

Bentchetler 120 for pow touring

That combo covers all my bases and is super fun.

Cyd you are amazing thank you so much, do you ski the deathwish at 184 or 190?

Also would you switch the deathwish for wildcat 184 or 190 if you were mainly in Revelstoke type area for a little extra float?

I ski the Deathwish at 184. I bet I'd like the 190, but haven't had a chance to ski it. The 184 is surprisingly stable for its length.

Nah. I really don't think I would. I've never skied Revy, and the Wildcat is awesome, but I'm sort of an anomaly in that I really prefer the Deathwish to the Wildcat. It's not quite as good in pow, sure, but that's why I have the Catamaran. And the Deathwish is actually totally fine in pretty deep snow. I think the Deathwish has a wider range than the Wildcat, so I have much more fun on firmer, chopped up days on the Deathwish than I do on the Wildcat. Again, that's just me, and plenty of people love the Wildcat in those conditions. I don't though, I prefer the Kartel 116, or Deathwish when it's firmer. That make sense?

I have a weak spot for that 110-112 waist ski. I always need to have one in my quiver, and nobody makes one that's as stable, and as playful as the Deathwish. Like that ski feels like a natural extension of my body in a wider range of conditions than anything else I've tried. And I've tried a lot.

Man this was so perfect thanks again so much. I’m going with the deathwish / shift combo and going to try that as a daily / daily tour ski with the bent and catamaran as a quiver.

You’re seriously the best

where did you end up mounting them?

ive heard that sean mounts his at true center but when i cop them im mounting them at -2.5

-2.5 is not bad if you ski pretty freestyle on them. For me I go over the front too much that far forward. My preference is -4cm

ah i see, with attack 13s? i got the b110 width, duno if it'll be too much to bend..

yea i think i'll be going around -4, hoping to demo at wsl during telus fes. (they should have demo day right?)

I've got Pivot 18s on mine. The mount point is directly in the middle of the true center and recommended mount point. I think that puts it at 3cm back from true. Hope that helps.

I put sth2 16's on mine, the gold look so good.

Unfortunately I dont think we will be at the WSSF demo this year. Not confirmed but does not look like it at the moment.
