K2 Buckle Replacement

Using the K2 Methods this season as my primary park boot, but the buckles keep bending and popping out easily due to the bending. I think I probably need to replace the buckles that are bending, I've tried bending them back carefully, etc., etc., but have had no luck.

Where can I come by replacement buckles that will fit these boots but aren't as shitty and flimsy as the stock K2/Full Tilt ones?

Which buckle are you having issues with? If its the toe buckle you could swap out the placement to put the buckle on top of the tongue rather than the side of the foot in the same way it is on the B&E boot. All the parts needed for this are on the K2snow website. If you want me to send you the part numbers needed let me know.

It's all of them. Furthest up is bent, and so are the bottom two, but on seperate boots. What do you mean swap out the placement?

You can see here the toe buckle is moved up onto the top of the tongue rather than being positioned on the side of the shell. This can help keep it a little more protected.

As for the other two buckles how are they getting damaged? Are they open and then bending in a fall?

They close fine, but they're bent that when they are closed tightly (which they are when I am skiing), they open quite easily. I don't know if what you said with the repositioning will make a difference--it also doesn't just seem to be a me issue. My brother and his friends have the same issue with having to swap buckles on these boots pretty often.

So you are bending the buckles just by closing them? How tight are you doing them up?

Tight enough to hold me in place, I don't really know how to measure how tight??

Well I mean if you are bending metal when doing them up im guessing its pretty tight :)

But really yeah make sure you are closing them flat, what I mean is try not to be twisting them as you close them this is how I most commonly see them bend. I would say get some new ones and just try to close them more carefully. But if you are having to tighten them that hard I would also look at the fit as you should not need to tighten boots that hard.

Ok, gotcha. You said order them through my nearest retailer? Or is there a cheaper option...

FTE middle/top buckle will this work?

Yeah that's it

Ive broken 4 buckles now on my k2 methods (both toe and both ankle). I just grabbed the buckles from my ancient Dalbello Kryptons and theyre way beefier and fit perfectly. Not buying new method buckles as theyll just break again. You can bring your boots into any ski shop and ask them for spare/scrap buckles to replace
