he said i have a class five heart murmur that needs to be looked at by a cardiologist. wtf? if anyone know what this is will i need surgery or what and if so how long will i be out? i didnt have one like 9 months ago so it just developed...can anyone tell me what this is or what docs do about it?
 
my friend had surgery for an irregular heartbeat....i dont remember him being out of anything for really that long but i dunno.
 
so he told you and then you said "its cool i dont want to know what it is, ill just ask the 15 year olds on NS"

It's like when your heart beats it has an irregular noise inbetween the 'thump-thumps.' It's has something to do with the way the valves inbetween heart chambers have to open and close. Heart mumers are common, but I have no clue what class 5 means, and if you need surgery, it probably is important, but I doubt if will be life threatening.

i got shit wrong with my heart. the docs say no no just take advil bla bla bla but i tell them sometimes the pain brings me to a halt
 
my dog has one.. we don't do anything about it cause it's not a health threat but when she's older she might have to take medicine.

Ok , now that I feel better: Heart murmurs are not uncommon and can vary in degree of "badness" you could have something that doesnt need to be dealt with for the time being or you could require immediate treatment. Only a cardiologist can tell you, thats why your doctor refered you to one. Nobody on NS can guve you the right answer up front.

i had to get an ultrasound before to check something in my heart or stomach or one of those, it was sweet haha i could see some organs...and a lot of black...
 
you dont necessarily have a bad sense of humor, it would depend on the mood your in. Personally I found it very amusing scrolling through a thread about heart murmurs and all of the sudden seeing a headstone.

My friend had the same thing..he got surgery and was back in school in 2 days and back playing soccer in a week.
 
my little brother, who is fat, has one. he doesnt do anything special, justlike hurts or makes him short of breath or whatever. its simply an irregular heartbeat.
