It started in snowboarding as a way to describe which direction you're doing your trick on a rail, since when they're in boardslide fs or bs, when they sw up one way or the other, theres no fs or bs, so they say pretzel(insert trick name here) for any trick that spins against their momentum coming on, even if its just a 90 into a boardslide.
