JVC Everio Editing issues

I have a JVC Everio GZ-MG335, and I have been having trouble with editing the footage. It imports in a weird video file called .MOD. The only program that doesnt completely suck that can edit it are the Adobe Premiere verions, which i cant run on Vista. Is there any convienient way to convert multiple files to a more useable format? Or at least an editing program that will work?

+K if someone can help me with this. I dont wanna have to buy a new camera case i cant edit my footy...

Not to be that guy, but this should teach you a lesson - any of the following can apply:

1) Never, ever again buy a JVC camera. Let them stick to VCRs.

2) Never, ever again borrow your mom's camera.

3) Hassle your friend stop using his mom's camera.

You know you're dealing with something that's...well...shitty when it has it's own file format. That's pretty bogey right there, IMO.

when i had my jvc gz hd7, i had some of the same problems. i just ended up deleting the software that came in the box off of my computer, then just used CyberLink as an editing soource and some how the vid files went to normal (not .mod). CyberLink is lame, but i never knew the difference between anything else.

you can just change the last of the file format to mpg or whatnot. or at least that works for me.
example change .mod to .mpg
