Just Watched Somebody break their back

Was skiing in a small mountain in MA called wachusett yesterday, i was just getting to the park when somebody came flying around a quick corner fell on his side and he went flying into a tree. So I got ski patrol, and they started working to help him, I skied down to the park and hiked a rail a few times, when I went back there was a few people standing around that worked at the mountain, and they said that he was at the hospital getting evaluated, when I came back around 3 hours later they said that he had broken 4 vertabre and severed his spinal cord. I am still pretty spooked about it. Ski in Control Kids.

yea a bunch of injuries ive heard about recently have just been people doing stuff they have done hundreds of times and it just takes one slip up for something tragic to happen. vibes go out to that kid

Yes. Extremely sad. Not just never walking again, but probably a quadrapalegic, which means you have no motor skills below your neck. Someone will be feeding this guy for the rest of his life and helping him go to the bathroom. About makes me cry it is so sad. Please take your life seriously, people.

I dont really think that is a diagnosis. If you like legit cut ur spinal cord in half i dont think you can even live.

either quadriplegic or no motor control below waist or so if he got really lucky, i think it depends where it got hurt on the cord... vibes go out to that kid, that would suck unbelievable amounts that i wouldn't be able to fathom in the least

im going to wachusett now, and their park is pretty good right now. but yeah wachusett's ski patrol has seen a couple deaths too.

fuck, i always end up reading these threads. Im always so excited to go skiing and try all these new things, then i click on one of these and it gets me fucking spooked. its good to keep you in check though, you have to realize this can happen to any of us.

Please keep us posted if you can, i want to hear his actual diagnosis. I really hope by some miracle he can walk again.

Fuck i hate hearing about fellow skiers, or anyone for that matter, have something like this happen to them its incredibly sad.

++++++++major vibes to him and his family

Be safe out there everyone.

If he broke his back and severed his spinal cord in the same place he can probably move his arms cause the nerves branch of fairly high but he'll almost definitely be paraplegic. people live with a severed spinal cord.
Vibes to him and family.

when i was in 5th grade i was on the race team and hit a tree fracturing my back. i was out for 20 min. all i remember from that day was eating a piece of Hawaiian pizza at lunch

a few weeks ago, i saw a boarder land on his uper back, neck and head with all his body weight, he legit bounced like a spring he impacted so hard, i just bailed on a jump right next to where he impacted, so since im a life guard and trained for that kinda situation i popped off my boot and ran up too him, he was seizing up and his eyes had rolled back, he was unresponsive and still seizing, i called to ppl to get the patrol and they eventually came (by the time they arrived he had stopped seizing) and was 100% unresponsive, i didnt manage to check for a pulse or anything (i kinda blanked out at the moment, also cause he was wearing tall tees and a huge jacket, and a bandanna so id have a hard time checking) i told the patrol what happened and they treated it as a spinal, it was pretty scary, being in the situation and all, i couldn't imagine how it was for him, it kinda freaked me for the rest of the day, i asked a patrol on a lift what had happened to him and they said that he had a very shallow pulse and was taken away in a trauma ambulance, not sure after that, 100% he got a concussion, 80% he had brain/skull damage, 50% parallelized, 10% he could be dead
(he wasnt wearing a helm btw)
remember to always be smart and sure of what your doing, this could happen to any of us, always be safe! (besides tom wallisch, hes pro)

is wawa doing the park passes again this year? i haven't been up since they opened their park

Wawa has such a sick park this year
So much better than all the other years,There are about 4 kickers, all of them are pretty huge for such a small snowpark/mountain, and they have a couple rails too.And yea they still do the park passes.

this is the saddest thing, at my home mnt... at 16 and yo have no motor skills below ur neck... my condolences to the family and most of all to the kid
guys be safe

word my buddies own wawa (the crowleys) and they say that people get pretty bad injuries because theyre always out of control. whenever i go there i see some pretty bad falls. +vibes for the guy though for sure.

oh, my bro knows them, own polar too, yea wawa is a shitstorm of accidents happening. last year this moron kid i know hit some older guy and put him in the hospital (on conifer)

no matter how shitty i think my life is I really should not complain....

this poor kids life is basically over.. remember that no matter how bad you think you have it someone has it worse.

i unfortunately had to witness somebody break their back this summer down hill biking, scary stuff

GET ONE!

seriously, one of the best investments i've recently made, you feel safer and alot more confident.

These threads always make me so sad, I really wish this kid the best of luck

I broke my T7 vertabre two years ago. I cant imagine what this kid is going through, I thought breaking one fucking hurt. The pain was kinda spread out for me though because I also had a arm that looked like a question mark and an epic concussion. basically I never want to do that again. I always get spooked when people fall know, kinda ruins my vibe.
