Just watched MSP:Claim

Just watched claim at a local college and I know there are probably already threads on this but I dont care. I am so disappointed in the movie that I would have rather sat in a corner with a dunce hat on my head and have people make fun of me. Ok thats a bit much but, compared to all of the other movies killing it these days and with all of the newschooler edits, I am just very disappointed in a variety of ways.

Cons

1. Claim intro was lame

2. I love backcountry and watching it, BUT the soundtrack was hideous

3. Park Segments were way to short

4. All of the backcountry shots began to look the same after the first 10 minutes of the movie

5. I felt like the movie was made in 1998. The quality wasn't that great at all.

6. Even if a lot was backcountry, the shots and angles got boring.

Pros

The level of skiing was good for backcountry

I guess I am just mad that with the progression of the sport in and out of backcountry that the level of riding I think wasn't up to par. Wester, West, Abama and Hunder's parts were good.

The rest just looked the same.

backcountry.com must be paying so much $$ to have the word "backcountry" linked everytime its written on NS...
but yeah i heard claim sucked, im not a fan of MSP to begin with anyway besides select segs like pep in hit list and the pushpull whistler jump segment.

My thoughts exactly. The only seg that got me stoked was the pillow one with TJ, CR, and Abma. Jacob's was ok, and so was Sean's. But the rest was exactly the same as every MSP movie I've ever seen. I liked Push, but since then their movies haven't excited me. Hit List wasn't anything special either...
I know bunches of people loved it, but to each their own.

yah i was kind of dissapointed too. SSD was better. they lost some good riders since last season too. that being said abma, pk, jacob, and sean all kill it. the couple shots of TJ are dope too.

haha it was pretty lame, the best part was wen kaj rode away from that fall like it was nothin ahahah

honeslty, i loved it. had tons of big mountain, pow, and backcountry shots. thats what gets me relly stoked in a ski movie. os i thought it was great. the soundtrack sucked a lil. the park seggys were pretty weak. i liked the movie, but i saw it once, and im not goin to buy it considering all the other grest ones out there.

yeah i thought it was a big meh, i am a huge fan of backcountry segments but i found the skiing wasn't that intense and innovative, even the backcountry slayers like hugo, hoji, and mcconkey. the one thing i liked about uti is that the skiing was progressivebackcountrybackcountrybackcountry

Im more into backcountry than park so i was a fan but it definitely could have been better, the soundtrack was definitely lacking, along with lost and found one of the only movies in the year i really didn't feel compelled to download music from. Basically some great backcountry skiing but with a good vibe for an msp movie but nothing really innovative in terms of shots and editing or music.

Most innovative trick of the year. It looked like a cork 3 after falling on his back then stomped the shit out of it afterbang included.

SSD was better and Claims soundtrack totally sucked. first time i've ever been dissapointed with a msp movie.

Totally agree; the trailer was awesome and I was really looking forward to seeing it, but really I got a bit bored. It was overlong and just kind of meh. Lots of the skiers I used to enjoy watching in MSP films weren't there and it was just nothing compared to other films this year (Reasons, Turbo; and the small amount of Such is Life that I have seen).

I did enjoy Colby riding the beginner line in a park; the kite skiing thing and the retro McConkey parts.

P.S please refer to backc**ntry as country of the back from now on.

speed skiing at the end... probably one of the most dangerous and crazy thing i've ever seen. and the return of the saucer boy was real cool. hope theyre gonna do a Pain McShlonkey Open this year.
