Just watched into the wild, one of the best movies i've ever seen

I highly recommend watching it, it seemed like it related to me so much, but everyone probably feels the same. For those who have seen it what were your thoughts on it?
 
I saw it a couple nights ago, I agree it's a great movie. The parts when he looked into the camera made me want to puke though. The main guy deffinatly steped up the acting from aplha dog.
 
i havnt seen the movie yet, but my english class had to read the book. It was the best piece of required reading ever. such a sick story
 
man, im so jealous. the only books we read in highschool were terrible fucking shakespeare books... i mean shakespeare may have been good for its time but now there are a million better book than that shit.
 
i have read the book and seen the movie, i cant decide what i like better? the movie made it all so real and i think they did a great job converting book to movie..

people out there that haven't seen or read it, i would definitely recommend reading it first..

another one of the same authors book is "under the banner of heaven" im not done with it yet, but so far it is proving to be a great book..
 
^ yea dude i definately wish i had read it first, now i just dont feel like reading it.. but if i had read it first the movie would probably have been even better
 
absolutely incredible movie. so amazing the affects one person can have on the lives of so many people by ignoring the norms of society.
 
yea, in the scene with the poisions plants book it clearly said bear brains were the antidote.   seriously though, he did go out like a bitch.
 
i read the book, krakauer is a really good writer. it makes you want to just leave this world for a new one.

Im going to be the first guy to say....i thought it was so so. Like at some points the story was interesting, and the music was DOPE.....but as someone who live in the boones, and has gone into the wilderness more times that i can remember it was just a story about a kid going into the bush not knowing anything about survival.

I know everybody is going to through " He was escaping the horrible world he lived in, and that society chokes us......and this film is an expression of freedom." These are all true in some points, but honestly just the way he treated everybody around him. This kid like hurt his parents beyond anything that their fights ever could. The dude could have just dropped them a line. Plus just going to Alaska to live in the bush, when he does not know ANYTHING about Alaska except for what he reads in books.......IS FUCKED. Honestly the guy had it coming. He literaly could have just stayed in Alaska to just learn before he headed out, but he didn't and died. Happens all the time up north.

I still like the white water part....that was awesome and hilarious. I still think the movie is silly though.
 
As someone who has rafted down the Grand Canyon I felt like that was the fakest part, there's no way he could paddle those rapids with no kayaking experience and not flip. I agree with you though, most people are just pencil pushing city slickers and don't know any better.
 
one of the best movies ever. it will stay as probably one of the best memories of my young life too...just one of those real simple memories. me and a bro went and watched it late night on a wednesday and drank crown royal in the theater and just had a super mellow time... good times...
 
Good film, good production qualities etc. Good acting. Vince Vaughn cracked me up. But I dont understand why this guy has been marked as a hero. He went out into the wildnerness and poisoned himself. He was like any n00b skier that goes into the park and gets wrecked. He had the right ideals, just poor execution. I would have survived. He was stupid.
 
your an idiot. hes not marked as a hero.its just a story about a guy who wanted to get away from his life. its supposed to be a story you can understnad and relate too. not something you try and do later in life...
 
i liked the movie, but didnt like it at the same time.

chris mccandless was a douche in the movie, im not saying he was in real life, but he had no regard for other people. i felt he was very selfish. he may have donated his lifesavings but he only did it because he didnt want any money and he had to do something with it. He met people who seemed to love him, his parents, his sister, the middle aged hippy couple, the young hippy girl, and the old man loved him like a son. chris had little regard for their feelings and left them to continue on with his ideal. he hurt many people trying to get what he wanted, when his very own reasons for his trip were inspired by the hurt he suffered from his parents and a materialistic world.
 
i highly suggest reading the book, they have a whole chapter about people like you ( no offense at all, you have a TON of good points) but it addresses the reason more why he did this. its been a while since ive seen the movie but it was more about the journey itself, read the book and you'll understand his motives more
