hey everybody,

after spending almost all of my life in shitty european ressorts i am lucky enough to be friends with a girl who will be skiing instructor at breckenridge this season. i will fly over there with 2 friends around christmas and we will stay for 23 days. yes you heard me, that will be 22 days of skiing, straight!

i have never been to colorado in my life, so i want to know which one of the ressorts included in the epic pass (breck, keystone, vail, beaver creek and arapahoe basin) is best for powder. correct me if i'm wrong but i'd say that breck and key are the best for park? judging just on from what i've heard on this site...

this is without a doubt the trip of my lifetime, i mean i will tell my grandkids stories about this trip! "back in the days when we had snow..." haha... also feel free to post anything that will make this trip as enjoyable for us as possible. post some good parties, cool places to be, good shops (skiing of course) and whatever you want.

about us. 3 guys from germany, ages 22, 22 and 19. if that matters for the parties or whatever.

Glad you're so stoked to ski Colorado! For skiing & powder, check out Vail and A-Basin. Best parks are Keystone and Breck.

thanks everybody! i literally couldn't be more stoked! + karma for useful posts

what about the parties. what's going down new year's?

word.

i skied abasin last year right after they got dumped on (like 1-2 feet of fresh)

best tree lines iv ever skied. if abasin has good snow when your there, i would say hands down abasin is well worth a visit.

and yea best park would be 1) keystone 2) breck.

sounds like a pretty dope trip man, have fun!!!!

id ski vail every day if i was you, the other resorts are sick, but after a day or two they will get old unless your a park rat, you will never ski all of vail and the back bowls on a powder day is uncomparable, ski vail

thanks everybody! alright so i know where i will ski now, anything else i need to do while i'm there? good places to pick up chicks with our sweet european accents? haha

I got an epic pass too through my moms work. I'll be coming out to Colorado from Dec 14-29th. I think I'm gonna be skiing Vail and A-Basin mostly. We should take a few runs.

we will ski vail a fair bit, but i don't think we will make the drive from breck to vail every single day.

we're also going to utah for some days, i have friends there too... we're only 3 people so if anybody from the breckenridge area wants to make a 5 day road trip to utah with free lodging all you need to do is hit me up and help paying for gas

oh hell yeah! what do you ski mostly? backcountry i guess? we ski half park and half bc, but we're down with whatever. do you know your way around there? i mean nice stashes and such

I'm a pow skier mostly, but I'll ski some park although I suck at it.

I don't know my way around too much but I'm sure I could find some cool stuff, last year when I was in Colorado all I skied was Snowmass and Copper.

hmmm. didnt even think about that.

my crew and i would for sure be down for meeting up with you guys and any other fellow NSers though. we are gonna be staying at tiger run campground in my friend's camper.

i will get the picture i uploaded on their site up as soon as i can. i'd totally give the pass to someone else.

what information do they have on those passes? i guess anybody could pull off the german names, mine for example isn't all that weird (Marc Laube), but if they also have some sort of adress it may suck a little bit

that's fine, we're not that great either...

i think once we go to breck or key everybody and their uncle will be better than us anyways so whatever, we'll be there for the fun

Dude, have a sick time over there.

Is anyone gonna be over there from Mar 29-April 5? That's when my spring break is. The mountain I'll be at is depending on the snow and price. I'm thinking A-Basin, but I don't know.

Im not joking, Beaver Creek is gnar after a good storm. You just have to know where to look.

Steamboat had 489 inches of snow last year.... so if you want powder... :)

Its about a 2 hour drive from Copper, and about an hour and a half drive from Silverthorne

to you and the guy above, you rock! this is exactly what i made this thread for, good info and pictures to get me even more stoked on the trip! thanks an +k

If you've been skiing Garmisch, get ready to be blown away by Colorado. Vail has awesome powder after a storm.

i haven't skied garmisch, but i had a season pass for park city in the 06-07 season, but i'm so stoked to check out colorado

Hell yeah man. I live in Breck and it is a great place to be. Everyone is super chill and stoked on riding. I'll be there the whole season, only going home for a few days at a time, so Im sure Ill see you up here. Monday nights at miCasa are pretty sick. $5 pitchers and 2 for 1 appetizers.

yeah, 10 days left! but i think we´ve got better/more snow in germany than you guys in CO ... what´s wrong?! ;) hope it will be better soon! what about the parks at the moment? becoming bigger? anyway, we are totally stoked to go there soon ... :)

Sick that you're skiing in Colorado...

The GOAT is a pretty sick/fun bar... It's right outside of Keystone and it can get pretty rowdy

Honestly if you want to make this a trip to remember and stories to tell, you absolutely must hit up copper and go cat skiing, its free and just make sure you go a couple days after some good snow and its should be really epic, it definitely made my trip. Also i enjoyed beaver over vail, vail wasn't that great when i was there i guess because there wasn't that much new snow, but i really liked the vibe at beaver, everyone was really chill, and as a person coming from the EC thats exactly what i wanted.

Good luck with everything

Well first up. The beer in Germany is about 1000000 times better than in the states so don't get your hopes up.
In terms of skiing, I did a trip similar to you (europe to summit) two years ago. My 'home' resort is Saas Fee Switzerland, just so you know.Anyway.. I was living in Avon, Co which is i guess 2 hours up I70 from Breckenridge about 25 mins from Vail. I skied..Copper Mountain, Vail, Breck, Keystone, Araphoe, Beaver Creek and Wolf Creek. So i guess you know Breck and Keystone have sick parks, but other than that aren't the most interesting resorts.Vail: Didn't ski park here but rumour has it it's not bad. Its sick on a pow day, The Back bowls are basically 6? open powder bowls with a few trees in some, and Blue Sky Basin also has some sick tree skiing and Cliff drops.BUT.. Vail gets super busy, on pow days you have to be there first thing and it's often tracked by lunchtime. Don't even bother on weekends.
Beaver Creek: Sick. In my opinion it kills Vail. Less busy. Pow lasts longer. More challenging lines inbounds. Good park too, very undertated. Definitely worth a few trips.I have some sick spots here hidden away in the glades or just out of bounds. Will PM if you want em.
Wolf Creek: Only went one day. A long drive! But empty as fuck, great snow, sick terrain.
Copper: As said, go cat skiing ^^.
I can give you directions few sick spots in Vail and a load in Beaver Creek. If you want.Bottom line is: If you want pow, go to the less popular resorts, or get up very early. Wolf creek was my best pow day but its a long way..
