Just picked up a d60

heard it was a fun camera, light, and small. plan on taking it traveling more. and as my backup

anyone have one ? tell me about it
 
wait so you have a d90 and you bought a d60? wtf?

idk its the same as the d40 as far as all the features go. an entry level DSLR with minimal custom options. the oly cool thing is you can choose from a color wheel thing what color your whites will show up as
 
well i basically got it more of a family use camera. I also like the portability and size of it. shutter speed are the same along with iso ranges.
 
well i have a feeling that you will be wanting more if you are used to a D90
seems kinda silly but whatevs
 
it's just for fun. nothing serious with it. sure ill put my nikon 18-200mm on it. but i hate when my brother touches my shit. i'd rather have him fool around with a less serious camera than my d90. i just wanted to get it just to have another body.

Anyway.... I heard it's a pretty dece backup. My friend uses it as his. Not much in the way of custom settings, but gives a good picture none the less. How do you like you're d90 by the way?

I'm shootin' with a 50D.

why are you guys shitting on him? Sure, maybe a d60 doesnt compare to a d90. Plenty of people have a reason to have 2 bodies.
 
yet my dad lives 2000 miles from me and it's my own money. hense a reason i bought it, and my d90 and every accessory i've ever bought has come out of my pocket. so shut the fuck up.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Is it just me or are people in here becoming more retarded? Maybe I've just reached a point where I don't feel like I need to prove myself to people I don't know. Could also be maturity.

To the OP:

I had 2 d50's and I loved them both. The first one I sold but I missed it so much I bought another one. The d60 is supposed to be a replacement for the d50 so it is a good camera. Benefits I can see from having it are: Smaller, lighter, better battery life, perfect backup to the d90. I don't know enough about it to judge but I absolutely loved my d50. To anyone who says it doesn't have as many manual functions please learn how to read. It has almost every feature you could need, albeit buried in a menu, but still available.

Now I believe that he truly believes that he didn't need another body based on his response, and has become defensive because of this. He has no NEED for another body, as I can safely assume he is not profiting from those macro shots that riddle his profile. He simple WANTED another body so "his brother wouldn't touch his camera" and "so that he could put his 18-200 on." If he really needed (wanted) another body, he could of bought a good condition used dslr such as the D50 or D70. Not gone and bought a brand new camera body with no AF.

Now I would like you to better justify why he should of purchased that body, if another body at all.

Please Mr. Maturity, call me an idiot again because I felt his purchase was irrational.

Never jealous of stupidity, more like astonished. Yes I wish I could go out and spend money frivolously on camera equipment but I know that wont make me a better photographer. But then again, someone like yourself wouldn't understand that.

He can spend his money on whatever he wants. Sure, you or me may buy something else, but it's his money, let him do what he wants. He obviously see having a backup, less expensive but yet legit camera as more important than new glass or flashes, so he's going to get what he wants.

All that stuff he paid for allowed you to have extra money. This allowed you to go out and multiple cameras to do the same thing. Do you understand this?

I honestly wish you would see the difference between bitching at you for living with your parents, and what I said. It's unfortunate that you can not see the difference (clearly due to age) and its also unfortunate that you have been so privileged to own multiple camera bodies and lenses at such a young age (pre-puberty?) Now you will be accustomed to having these luxuries and end up always wanting the newest gear and becoming the Ken Rockwell of 2040. You are defending your point for the sake of defending your point. Even if he admitted to this (which he probably does) you would still not have proven your original point. Now I know this kid claims he paid for the body himself, but I still can not possibly believe because I do not know of many kids who accumulate such a wealth working minimum wage. Plus he probably hasnt had a long work history seeing as legal working age is..15? His parents have helped him with his purchases whether he will admit it or not. Maybe not the D60, but maybe some of the glass, or the D90. But Ive given up on this thread, as no one (besides nick) will see past my rude, but correct comments.

I wont be commenting back unless this kid can persuade me that this purchase was justified.
