Just out of curiosity

yah dude, I raced right up until last winter. I did Slalom and Giant Slalom as well as all my big mountain and park that I've loved for the last 3 or 4 years. I quit slalom at the end of 2000 just coz it was too boring and restricting and all the dudes that did it were posh rich kid pukes, I try not to bang on racing too much coz it is hard and takes skill. Big mountain and jibbing/park is cooler though and much harder. So yah, to answer your question, yes, I am an ex-racer

yeah i race slalom, no i'm not a stuck up puke, but some people see me with shin and pole guards and treat me that way ...search for 'can't we all get along' and read the story, some people are assholes. Anyway I race partialy because we get a season pass for half price and partially because i simply like to race, but I agree freeskiing and jumping are more fun.

i raced for a while, not really competative or anything. just for fun. and i sort of still do, but not really. i got to practices with my school team, but I don't actually go to races.

I myself have never raced with the exception of a sick ronald macdonalds race when I was a wee youngin. A lot of my friends that race are pretty good in the park. Most of them should stick to racing though.

i race pretty competively. its fun if im with the right people. i usually take my twintips with me and some of the other racers look at me like im crazy... oh well those are the racers i think its ok to make fun of

nope i wasnt a racer i was thinking about it but nope...

i would race if there was a team around here. i dont like the attitude or the kids who do it but i love skiing fast, and its just another part of skiing to try to get good at is the way i see it, but odnt get me wrong. i would much rather go to the park and pipe or go rip up a zipper line

i quit downhill last week and i quit other racing last season..pure jibbing now

i used to race like 2 years ago in tas at the end of the season and it was ok. i got to go up 4 days a week, instead of 1, and i after the course i could go straight to the terrain park, then too the lifts. it wasnt too bad, but everyone on the team had like 5 pairs of skis and all this nice shit and i was skiing 2 year old K2 explorers. they sucked for racing, but i loved them everywhere else. considering i did like 3 races in my life and only did tas for like 1 month and a half i dont consider myself an ex racer. and i dont think i would want to race cus i remeber a big pow day, we had to run gates and i was sooo angry.

I used to race, but I could not handle the pressure of my coach, so I quitted and became a rock superstar.

seriously, i dont have anything about racer if they are not trying to look cooler, faster and better then non-racer. Last year, there was tose little racer punk that were yea, I'm sure I ski faster then you... so at his comp, I opened the trail and did the best time of tha day, with beaten 1080.

Yeah I race for my university. I HATE training - banging gates all day just gets really boring -

but the adrenaline rush of going really fast and pushing yourself to the edge of your control is pretty cool. It's up there with stomping really big.

I dont like how serious people take it though.

Do any of you ex-racers do Skier-X ?

I race for my school... then again i also coach for my school... Im not super serious about racing but I luv going fast and racing gives me a way to do that in a somewhat sane and non-dangerous fashion... Sunday morning bang gates all morning go in for lunch and grab my twins and go and hit up the park... I agree with whoever said it... if u put in an awesome run down the course skiin to ur limits and super quick same feeling as stompin something... Racing might also be my key to get into my top choice unni.. dont know bout that yet tho have to wait and see...

I was competing at a pretty high level last year, doing norams and nationals. but i quit that due to lack of funds...I'm much happier right now coaching and jibbing. I really missed it at first, but i'm used to it now. The only thing i still really miss is skiing at the best resorts for free all year round. Does anyone know if jon olson quit the swedish junior team this year? I'm guessing he did. He was a pretty decent racer.

i went through all the stages racing. teaching coaching, now i really into backcountry and touring
