up until i received the letter stating that my program this fall requires a mac, i was a lifetime pc user, but now that im messing around on mac, i love it. I dont want to start another mac vs pc debate, but instead can any other mac owners give me some tips on what programs are sick, and things to watch out for?

if your into music you can get a keyboard or plug an electric guitar into your computer and record it on garage band.

Don't you front on methis is as hard as it getsyou got your macbook pro!now get your itermanet!

Well, hold down control, option and command and press 8 for inverted screen colors. Also, hold shift when minimizing stuff for slow-mo minimize animations. That's pretty much all you need to know, if it works on the new OS.

pm me if you want/ need to get any big programs

final cut pro

photoshop

after effects

premiere

aperture

microsoft work suite

and more....

I just have a little question, do you guys use iwork to write papers for school or is it better tu use microsoft world cause it is easier to open the file after on a pc ?? Thanks

Check out the How you user your computer thread, to find some cool apps
These are the apps i use on my mac:
Music: iTunes, Spotify, Mojo, SonosVideo: Final Cut Express, After EffectsChat: iChat, SkypeSchool: Pages, WordPhotos: iPhoto, PhotoshopGraphics: IllustratorInternet: Safari, Firefox, OperaOther: Quicksilver, Eclipse (for java), Little Snitch, Sketchup

photoshop is definitely a must for me, but it all depends on what you want to do

you can have pretty much all the same programs for a mac than the ones you can have for a PC, make sure to get an external drive though, to have a back up of everything on your computer

use the installed mail program

-final cut for movie editing-photoshop cs4 for photo editing/mesing around-adobe bridge OR adobe lightroom for navigating photos-photomechanic if you do photo stuff (drag a folder in to see photos in a timeline)-quicksilver to open apps quickly-synergy- gives you itunes controlls in the toolbar up top-adium for aim stuff-handbreak for ripping dvd's-sixtyforce for N64 emulator-vlc for playing videos-transmission for torrents- and i use safari for the internet

I was the same as you. Lifetime pc user and then once college started I needed a mac so I got a mac book pro. I'm loving it.

Adobe creative suite is sick, also appzapper. Apps leave a lot of stuff behind on macs, when you delete them you have to hunt down all the files that the app left behind, appzapper does that automatically and it's really cheap ($15).

I never knew about the control option and command then 8 button trick! that is so sick I was amazed when I did it haha

sixtyforcevisualboy advancephotoshop cs4GrandPerspective (invaluable if you need to free up a bunch of hard drive space)final cut studiotransmission (this is a must for torrenting)final cut studiounrarX (again, useful for torrenting and taking shit from other file-sharing sites)skype (i know it's not just mac, but still a good one to have)Mojo
