Just got a mac desktop computer and i need help. This is my first mac. I film with the JVC everio hd 7 camera and the files are .tod. I movie does not recognize these files. I am used to sony vegas 7. So my question is.. Can anyone give me a link to a zip file with vegas that will work on mac? dosnt have to be 7 can be 9,10 or 11. Any help would be appreciated because i have no idea what I am doing.

Well you should probably go do some google searches and maybe learn a little bit more about your mac and what you're working with before running onto ns and making a thread. Regardless the .tod files can be easily converted to .mov or whatever you want using mpegstream clip or something similar, you shouldn't have too much of an issue. As for vegas, unless you're planning on running something like parallels or bootcamp and running windows on your mac than no, there is no version of vegas for mac. Try imovie should edit the mov files fine, if not download premiere or final cut

One of the great things about OSX is that you don't have to run Sony Vegas in lieu of Premier or Final Cut.

this basically best advice ever. learn one of these programs premier cs 5 or final cut 7. make the switch and once you get going on it you will be glad you did. mac + either of these = best video production unit you can get as a prosumer

well i hate to ask, but does anyone know where i can download one of these programs? No torrents please. dont deal with those.

or start willing to pay anywhere from 6 to 9 hundred bucks.

but really you can download a 30 day trial usually for each program i think. then if you really do like it you can try and find a cheap place to buy it from and then get a serial number for it. idk i paid about 600 for my final cut pro 7 but thats really my only purchase of software...

get vuze, its a free program. I thought torrents were some complicated mumbo jumbo until I tried them out for myself. its literally just like downloading a file directly from mediafire, or another file hosting site. only it downloads through a program rather than your browser.

transmission is faster and uses less power, vuze is only worth using for the streaming to xbox/ps3

Ok so I have done some research and found that Final Cut Pro would work the best on my mac with my camera. I know you guys say to use torrents, but I am just not comfortable with that. I have never had good luck with them. So if anyone could link me somewhere where i can get FCP that would be awesome. +k for sure.

... you don't seem to understand. Torrents are the best, safest, most legal way to get it without buying it, unless you have a friend with the install. It's mad easy, you're not going to get in trouble.

do you mean buy final cut pro? if you google final cut pro it usually comes up with prices then click on that and you will have many options listed probably ranging from about $800 to $1200

FCPX is fairly cheap and their upgrade has made it a lot better. I'd look into that if you don't want to spend the money on Premier.

that is 100% your fault, keep in mind you are on a mac now, so your fear of viruses can be pretty much thrown out the window, all you need to do is:

>pirate bay

>top 100 mac apps

>find FCP torrent

>download torrent in program of your choice

>do as read me file and comments say to get it working

>start editing and become super star
