And it's about damn time, too... most of my friends have already heard back from their schools. I'm putting in to Carleton (MN), Reed and Lewis & Clark in Portland, Kalamazoo, and the University of Michigan. Who else is bashing through these trying times?

 
kami.. its lewisclark.. not lewis and clark.. lewis and clark is in lewiston idaho... any ways.. i am only a sophmore in high school but i am lookin for colleges already... cant be too prepared.

Yeah, im a WA local, junior. Im hoping for the UW, somewhere close to skiing. No east coast for me either... i need mountians, not hills.

Kami- I have gotten some info from Reed and it looks like a great school (I'm assuming your definitely looking for a small lib arts). I'm thinking a lot of really smart people who didn't really like the high school atmosphere so much so didn't spend their life on school work kind of place. Im going to Chicago this weekend so I'm gonna visit the campuses of Northwestern and Univ. of Chicago (probably my top choice right now). Reed looks like a good option as far as smaller schools go though, plus Portland is much closer to quality skiing than Chicago. But good luck w/ your apps.

Acceptance rates for Northwestern and Chicago are usually in the low 40%'s better have your act together to get in there.

 
yeah... tough times. im about to send mine in if i get all my letters of recomondation to me this week. at which point i will begin shitting bricks, lol not really but... im just gonna feel like a god damned retard if an instate kid doesn't get into CU. im also applying to Western Washington (all you Bellingham kids wish me luck) and Western State College (Gunnison) as my safety school... a word to the wise if you want to check out an easy semi-Lib. Arts school AND ski. Western State offers its open days. Western State College is where it's at. At least that's where I'm at. Can't beat Avalanche Safety, Advanced Alpine Skiing, and Wilderness First Responder as college courses.

Western is in Gunnison,CO. 30 miles south of Crested Butte. Pretty much in the middle of fuckin nowhere, but that's partly what makes it cool. If you are into the city thing, then you would hate it. I'm not actually enrolled right now. After the winter season and a NOLS semester in the Yukon or Alaska I will be though. I guess it's time to make some progress after 6 semesters in school and only 40-something hours to show for it.

kalamazoo college is full of assholes. i used to live around there. unless you are of the white collar caucasians who dont like anybody else at all, you will never fit in

LineEast: I applied to Champlain college last year, I got in easy with Cs and Bs and a couple Ds. You shouldn't have a problem.

LOL... Ontario applications are due today... Ive applied to Carleton, U. of Ottawa, Laurentian, Trent, Macmaster, Georgian, Flemming,and McGill and Concordia!!!

And now i wont hear back until May or June... such a shitty deal!

i havent figured out where i want to go (Still got a little time) i here that bolder is really expensive. anyways does anybody know how much it is for insate and out of state? Im also a little curious why you would want to get a ski area managment? if u do that wouldnt u be busy working at the hill and dealing with all the problems during ski season. you wouldnt have any time to ski. what u have to do is find a nice summer job

 
Ontario applications were not due today. You have until Feb. 1, they encourage you to do it before Dec. 1 though, I'm applying on the internet, it's easier. I'm applying on Monday to Humber, that's all I'm applying to cause that's the only place I want to go.

my bros X-GF goes to LEWIS_CLARK college in portland.. there is a LEWIS AND CLARK college in lewiston.. i live like 30 minutes from lewiston and my family has lived there for 10 years.. i think i would know.. that is where i racked myself trying to do a superman on my bike.

anyway, i'm headed to boulder for aerospace engineering. yah, i'm gonna be a rocket scientist. i think it's like 16K in state and 31K (???) out of state. i can't remember right now.

Boulder is not that much for in-state or out of state. I'm thinking its probably about 8 grand for in state turition and 18 for out of state but theres a bunch of people on here who go there so theyd know. 31 K will pay for a year at an Ivy school, I don't think any state schools cost that much.

cbbc kicker alot of colleges have those courses though u of u has the same sort of thing and it isnt in the middle of no where although there are alot mormons around

 
Skierdood- There IS a Lewis AND Clark college in Portland. I would know, because I just applied to Lewis AND Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I'm sure there's one in Lewiston, too, no one thinks you're lying.

I slayed my SATs, 1500, so I can get into pretty much anywhere I apply to... but money is a concern, and of course I want good skiing around. Which is why I'm looking at Portland and the Pacific Northwest. I think Reed would be an awesome school for me because it's renowned as the most challenging literary school in the country, their classics department is amazing. Plus the fact that I'm a brilliant and quirky bookworm, which means I would fit in quite well.

G-dubs I hope you like U.Chicago and Northwestern, I just messaged you about them. They are both kick-ass schools although Northwestern has a heavy beautiful-person preppy vibe to it... I'd be going to one of those schools if I had the money, and if there was good skiing nearby.

 
I definitely wouldn't say that 'a lot' of schools have snow/ski oriented courses. University of Utah seems cool, but I dig the wilderness so I'll stay where I'm at. The people in Colorado are more fun.

you're gonna be paying like 20k just for tuition out of state at boulder, not to mention every other living expense, which adds up to probably 30 grand. it is as expensive out of state as any other public school. there isn't much of anything close to mammoth, but UNR is about 45 minutes from tahoe, sac state and uc davis hour and a half

UVM is actually the most expensive public school in the country. Lyndon State College in Vermont also has Ski Area Management.

 
Yeah, i just did that. I sent in to Western Washington, University of Utah, and University of Oregon. I just gotta decide between Utah and Western.

I applyed To Capalino College in North Vancouver, Lakehead in Thunder bay, and Laurentian, in Sudbury.

Cap is my first pick for sure.

about 2-2.5 hours. I actually live in Boulder, but I've researched every school within skiing. Unfortunately, there are few really topnotch ski schools, and the few that are close are ridiculously expensive. Looks like I have to settle for CU.
