Just applied for a tp crew job how do i tell my parents i dropping out

Dude high school gets a lot better senior year. A lot of people don't really feel satisfied with high school until their last year which is always the best. Can you just work park crew part time while you stay in school? Also what's skiing like by your high school? Can you go after school or on weekends? If you can go to high school and get skiing time in then your set.

I would apply to college from high school like normal and once you get in, delay your enrollment for a year. A good amount of kids do this. Then you can work park crew for a year and get it out of your system. I'm telling you by the time you hit 19 or 20 your gprobably gunna develop other interests outside of park skiing and park crew.

Also if your interested in the ski industry and you want to make a good living to have a house and family you should probably get some sort of college degree in whatever you like (management, marketing, film, engineering, resort management, real estate, etc.) and then you can apply for a good job at a mountain/resort and ski really often.

Another shitty post.

As for the start, most places you have to be 18 to work park crew anyway. If you're 18 or your mountain somehow lets you do it earlier you could def work just the weekends a lot of places. The weekends are the busy days where the parks will be fully staffed.

"I would apply to college from high school like normal"

Why? Just because?

"Then you can work park crew for a year and get it out of your system. I'm telling you by the time you hit 19 or 20 your gprobably gunna develop other interests outside of park skiing and park crew"

Get it out of your system eh? Obviously you don't understand the meaning of a passion or have never truly come across one in your own life. So when you got to the end of high school/ into college you developed other interests and stopped skiing park as much and caring about it. Good for you. Everyone is different.

"Also if your interested in the ski industry and you want to make a good living to have a house and family you should probably get some sort of college degree in whatever you like"

Honestly, most of those degrees are complete bullshit. The places where you pay a ton of money to get a degree in skiing pretty much are a joke. That goes back to the point I made earlier in the thread about people going to school for the wrong reasons. People going to school just because that's what you're supposed to do. That's a retarded reason to spend 80k. Honestly most of those degrees are useless anyway. The best way to get those jobs is to work at a resort, work your ass off and keep going back(unless you get a better opportunity somewhere else) Yes some of the degrees can be helpful in ways but it all depends on what job you're looking for and what degree you end up going for.

"and then you can apply for a good job at a mountain/resort and ski really often."

The majority of the people working at your local ski resort did not go to college and get a degree in working at resorts. Other than maybe some having a marketing or business management type degree.

You can go to school and spend a bunch of money and get a degree to be a fucking snowboard and ski tech. What a great fucking major. Or you can just get a job at a rental shop at the mountain or ski shop in town and learn by doing it as a job and work your way up.

Paying 80k for some of those degrees is a fucking joke. Unless your parents are paying for all of it then fuck it, go for it.

The jobs available are greatly reduced, the ski area closes, shops and restaurants go on limited hours. Yea, anyone MIGHT be able to get a job if you can hustle or are lucky, but there simply are not enough jobs for the population.

There aren't but there are a lot of people that don't have jobs not looking that hard.

I bet I could get hired for a job anywhere you put me. Might not be a great job but I could find something. And something beats the hell out of nothing.

I employ a guy who worked in the kitchen for years, always made himself available and WANTED to do the awful jobs to get "in". He's full time college, full time ski shop, part time park staff and works with his buddy selling bio diesel. Another employee who I love is the head nurse for robotic surgery at one of the

Best hospitals in the are... Two others are full time college students working jibs to pay their own way, another a restaurant manager who loves snowboarding..... My point is, passion. We're in motha fucking 'merica. Get after it. People who are busy and ambitious like to surround themselves by people who are bust and ambitious. And the unemployment thing is indeed offensive. Just because you have it offered to you you're gonna stop there? Fuck off. If your down and out, by all means, believe me I don't want you stealing my shut. But why stop at easy? Re-read bishops post. Check out his life....... Motha fucka makes sacrifices. Why? He's on a mission. College or not, follow your dreams, your path. But pay your own fucking way while you do it. Btw.... There's plenty of work out there. It's nit all pretty, but last I checked the economy is in the shitter, so take every opportunity that remotely looks doable . End rant

your way to fucking young to drop out of school...I almost did back in the day. In high school your way to young to make decisions like that. In a few years you will realize the importance of school no matter how much you hate it. Senior year take easy classes. You dont have to go to college. Atleast graduate high school. I hated school, still hate school and im a junior in college majoring in finance. I never did amazing but I got by. The real world all you need is that peice of paper. If you work hard you can work your way up. Its not like 40 years ago you could get a decent job wthout high school or college. Not like that today. Stay in school kid. Everyone loves skiing. Your to young to realize what actually goes behind into skiing all the time. Theres a reson its a rich white mans sport. Requires money to do

I feel like Bishop is an exception though. It sounds like he was on the verge of being screwed before newschoolers popped up out of nowhere and screwed him, stay in school man!
Shit if nothing else come to the u of utah. Ski 4 - 5 days a week, hell get a degree in parks n rec and actually be able to have something to fall back on if everything else doesnt work. college has been insanely amazing, and I am in one of the hardest majors you can take, i still have a blast. You get to party hard and meet tons of chicks, its fucking sick.
Also, I don't understand why everyone has this idea that the "real world" has to be SO horrible, like if you have a high paying job you cant be enjoying your job. I LOVE what I am doing, i know everyday that I could be on the verge of finding something that could save thousands and thousands of lives, its just fucking interesting. I dont understand how snow-shaping has somehow become more rewarding than making a difference in peoples lives and doing something to advance the human race. Just because your in a high paying job doesnt mean that you have to be sitting in a cubicle, or be a slave to the corporate ladder.

"You get to party hard and meet tons of chicks, its fucking sick."

Again, terrible reason to spend a shit ton of money to go to school. I mean fuck. You could live near a campus, soak up the cheap rent, and party and everything else without paying tuition.

" I LOVE what I am doing"

Good for you, so do I. The next line is just making your self feel special but whatever, go for it.

"I dont understand how snow-shaping has somehow become more rewarding than making a difference in peoples lives and doing something to advance the human race."

Get the fuck out. Google delusions of grandeur.

your right, everyone encourage a 17 year old kid to drop out of high school so that he can screw his parents and go shape jumps for all of 10 years and contribute nothing to society except for a smooth pop.

Quoted for emphasis and threads... This response needs to be posted on all the threads like this. ++K excellent response

seriously, this post, or an interview of bishops story is needed in the news feed or something for everyone thinking about doing the same thing.

dude i dont want to be rude but you shouldnt think like that.

you ll be in the top 2% when you ll have done something with your life (whatever that may be : skiing, baking, writing a phd thesis, making music...) that will put you in that spot.

The world is filled with "talented people above average people" who happen to be more than average... If you re as smart as you say you should be able to fight through high school. i m not saying school should be easy for you there s plenty of ways to be smart you dont need to be good at school but you should be able to fight it through.

good luck.
