Just an observation.. (Legalization)

While it seems like a sensible step to ease up government policies on medical marijuana, I can't help but wonder why there are no steps being taken to make the American drinking age something reasonable.

I don't smoke and im gonna be 21 in a few short weeks so I feel as if I'm somewhat objective to the argument as neither policy change would do anything to my benefit. I just have a hard time understanding why there has been such a hard recent push for the legalization of marijuana yet seemingly nothing is being done about being 21 years old to have a PBR.

What do you guys think? Is this a little ridiculous to you too, or are they totally different arguments?

Alcohol can destroy your life so much easier and faster than weed would. It is probably why they are two different arguments. But at the same time I think it is a bit strange that you can go and die in the Army at 18 but can't share a beer with your mates until you are 21.

Because high school kids act stupid. There is a time and a place for everything, its college. however my opinionis the drinking age should be 19 only to try and keep it out of high school

That's exactly it. College is where you learn everything. you learn to drink, you learn to control yourself, you learn a lot about yourself. you go to college when you are 18

even my parents think the drinking age should be 18, they agree that college is where you go to learn the ways of drinking and partying and what not

Because there are 18 year olds in high school. You lower the drinking age to 18 and it makes it easier for even younger people to get it. Now you don't have to ask your older sibling to buy you alcohol, just any senior. The law isn't there because they don't think 18 year olds should drink (even though that's what they say) it's there to protect even younger people.

Marijuana legalization is getting so much attention because it is trying to reverse an unjust law. Just because you're a kid who wants to drink alcohol and you can't, doesn't mean the law is unjust. The two are on completely different levels and really should never be brought up in the same intelligent conversation.

I'll also add, yes other countries have younger drinking ages, but that really is attributed towards that country's relationship and culture around alcohol. America has kind of a bumpy past with booze and making the drinking age 18 would only fuck it up even more.

And I'm pretty sure the country has better things to do than make 18-20 year olds happy. Who are already drinking anyway.

For my sake at least, I hope pot never gets legalized or decriminalized near me, cause I eat enough as it is, weed just makes it worse. Fucking munchies.

Lowering the drinking age in the states is basically impossible, seeing as only 3 years worth of people will give and shit and be able to have any say in it.
