what was the deal with the glasses/lens cap on the camera? like why was it so important for them to put the glasses on before they left the car? it's about 38 minutes into the film

The glasses were opaque I believe...that way he had to wear them until he got down to the room. That way they didnt know where the grower and lived.

Yeah, both of you had it right. They said the clippers and workers had to wear them whenever they show up to work so they don't know the location of the house. They can only see the basement where it all happens. You can hear them stumbling around when they enter the house.
