200,000 for 24 songs? I'm sorry, but "might be a little steep" doesn't cut it. That's what most people make in 8 years of their life. I think that you can't sympathize with the music industry in this one, for 24 songs that seems pretty far out there.
 
oh noesss, we are not feuling mainstream rap artists rediculously lavish lives!!! Suck it the fuck up. I do not understand how by not contributing 12 dollars to some rich record label, you get charged for over 200, 000 dollars. I can sympathise for those smaller bands and lebels trying to get thier name out, but g-unit? sorry, not legit at all.
 
I don't understand how how illegally downloading is any differant than shoplifting.. you are stealing the music, one is just physical and the other is electronical. It should be a $400 fine just like it is for shoplifting... how is it any differant..... I don't get it!
 
but its not stealing, it's sharing. it's no more illegal than someone burning one of their cds and giving it to you, which i believe is also supposedly illegal, but people usually think of it as not. people buy the music, then send it to others. labels need to give it up because they're not going to win and more and more artists are supportive of having their music pirated.

i hope someday big labels go down an artists go independent. wouldnt be surprised if it did in the future

this is beautiful, now if I decide to sue somebody, i can multiply the dollar amount by 9,250 and use this as precedent. now i just need to figure out who to sue.. any suggestions? State and Federal governments maybe? God this is all such bullshit/
 
This woman was prosecuted for sharing the files. In Canada, it's only legal to use P2P if you don't share the files (make them available for other users to get the file off you). So therefore, if you're sharing in Canada, you're still doing something illegal.

On a slightly seperate note, the American law states that the woman can be prosecuted if she has been sharing the files. It doesn't matter whether it's never been downloaded from her, or whether it's been downloaded 200 times. The company can assume it was downloaded as many times as they like, and that's how sums like this come around.
