Frontflips are more scary and harder imo.

Backflip rotation is way more natty and u see the landing.

As for places you can do them at, backies all mountain, but frontflips on noles and rollers. Thers a video of Ahmet's Brother doing like 11 through PC

Yeah but backies are straight death if you Fuck it up. Front is a back splat at worst.

Wrong, ever seen jerry of the day? often people dont get any rotation but still commit and neck plant. Dont forget the infamous dick suck tuck, absolutely deadly.

I've over rotated backies to my back and been fine, just maybe knocked the wind out a bit. I took a front flip way too deep and went straight to my head and got a concussion one time tho.
 
I just learned front flips, they are definitely way more scary because you can spot, but the fall is less painful than a backie IMO, i just started learining mistys now and they are pretty fun but is scary af because im landing switch. I cant backflip
 
I know some folks don't like video in threads, but I'm gonna' do it as usual.

Not a high quality video, but watch him look at the cam as he does it.

We have a few at Bachelor that do switch front flips. I think of them as switch backs, but hey.........I get confused!

 
I can't do either flip on skis but I wanna try a frontflip soon. In my opinion on a trampoline and flipping on ground frontflips are less scarier but harder to land, backflips are easy to land but it takes so long to get over the fear. It also feels like you break your ankles every time you land a frontflip on ground, I'm assuming it's similar on snow.
 
I tried hucking front flips before backflips. With front flips just find a cat track and you can try it worst case Ontario you backslap and roll out most of the time. But with backflips there is something that if you pop hard enough you just know that you will make it around, and putting the land gear down is way easier on a backflip than a front flip in my opinion.

no shame, I've been skiing park for 9 years and I've still never attempted one. I'm too tall for that bullshit

People tell me they're easier than a 360.

One summer at high north I actually made it my mission to learn backflips. I had them on lockdown on the water ramps and couldn't believe how easy they were.

However all of a sudden right before I was about to take them to snow, I got stuck upside down 5 times in a row on the ramps and landed directly on my head.

Seassion at the ramps ended, never got back to them that summer and have remained spooked to this day.

I could do flairs and flatspins in the pipe though, which is funny... just that straight over Backie has been my white whale.

Hah yeah the backie was my Achilles heel. Just couldn't fucking sort it out. I was always pretty scared though, which really hindered my Skiing.

I have Promised myself I'd do one eventually... so maybe it's time to start getting psyched up for it again.

i totally feel you on having a mental block with backies, i did lots of other tricks before them because of The Fear

but once you have them you go OH. shouldve done that before!

i hope you learn them! theyre WELL within your abilities and it would be such a sick thing to finally get around to doing
