ok, so ive been skiing for about a couple years but i still have a problem going over jumps. when i see other people go over jump (atleast the good ones) they just kinda float thru the air. when i go over he jumps, i don't feel that smooth. is there something wrong i could be doing, or should i just keep jumpin till it becomes comfortable?

I think its a matter of how much air you get and how smooth your technique is. I am a newcomer to the world of trick skiing, I know how you feel. But once you are more comfortable with jumping you will get bigger air, go farther, and trick smoother. It takes lots of prectice and lots of wipe outs. It does for me, anyway!

If you wanna get a feeling for how you are progressing, ask your friends to watch adn tell you where you are landing, how much air you get. Better yet, find someone who has a video cam so you can see for yourself!

Newcomer here as well, I think it's just your style, and how smooth you make it look. The bigger and more stylish you make it look, the better it looks. But I'm still tryin to land a 3, so don't take my word for it. =)

try not to spazz in the air, maybe

The problem might be in what you are doing as you go off the jump.

Alot of people lean back in their skis coming off of a jump, this sets you way back in the air and they spend the whole time they are in the air trying to get forward, thus spazztic flail.

I still concentrate hard on my stance coming off of jumps,

1.Bend your knees

2.Keep your hands in front of you (shouldars fw)

3.Press your shins forward up against your boot

4. Pop

5. Bring your knees slowly up to your chest

If it helps then grab safety or something

Work with the basics (I did an article on taking it back to the basics that I think will help you out alot, it goes into these basic principles)

That should do it.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.
