Jumps will be coming soon!

They got several new trails covered and soon (i hope) the jumps will be built next. On the ride home nips was mentioning he would rather have one huge step up rather than a jump line. There are advantages to a mid slope step up at about 30-40 feet (lip to knuckle) in that, when you drop in higher, you can air out farther and not worrie as much as falling out of the sky.

Thoughts?

no no no no... hahahahaa. What we were talking about was for Big Boulder park once they have enough time and cold temps to build jumps.

I dunno, snow and room permitting, I'd like to see a line of 3 starting out with 40 and ending with like 55. I doubt they'll have the room or the snow though.

personally i would like to see them start small in the beginning of the season..maybe a 25 to a 30 to a 40 footer or something..i remember last year at the team comp a couple people got hurt on the jumps..im not sure but my reasoning for this was maybe the jumps were too big for a comp that early in the season..

Keep in mind, that freedom and widow will likely have the small and medium jumps. I am talking about Big Boulder Trail. I have to rustle up some pics. to explain what I am talking about.

Here is what I posted on PASR

It looks like a really good sustained cold spell is on the way. I have noticed that the actual temps at Big Boulder are about 3 degrees colder at night than the surrounding online weather reports are saying.

Jump suggestions:

small jumps in freedom up to 15-20' lip to knuckle

medium in merry widow up to 25'-30

Big Boulder. Rather than a step down jump line of 3 jumps 30-50' - How about build one true step up, 35'ish lip to knoll to ~75' to toe of landing slope?

- It might not be possible just because of the sheer volume of snow that would be needed on the Slope ot Big Boulder trail. Anyone else feeling it?

Multi-weg the narrow trail next to Big Boulder trail might be a better choice since I think there is enough flat area at the bottom with room for a run-out infront of the maintenance buildings.

I'll try to get some pics up showing some examples of the step up.

Meh, one big ass jump would be sick if it was huuuuge. But I dunno...it's always a nice feeling to get a rhythm going on a line of jumps..

the landing on the last jump on boulder during the team comp was fucking infinite and sooooo nice.. but the landing on the top jump, which they ended up having as a comp feature, was way short.

naaaaaaa .. have you ever hit a large step up. If so where was it? If you had ever hit a good one youwould give your left nut to have one over and above 3 step downs.

A nicely constructed step-up would be nice on LOVE park. I think that's more likely right now than anything on Boulder. Haha...don't think we'll get the 75 footer either.

Which one is Love Park? the one on Widow? Is that where the marble/granite/concrete ledges are going too?

ya.. and about those concrete ledges... bad idea people will get sooo badly hurt. Not to mention how much concrete screws up your skis, marble is a better idea

Marble is really expensive. Concrete will be fine if they smooth it out nice like the floors in most skateparks.

dude you could 75' on the last jump last year. it's all where you hold the tape. 75' on that step down hurt. thats why flight path of 75' on a step up would be ideal - if you see me out there, say hi. I carry a 100' tape in the truck.

75 on that last hit was definitely doable. i wouldnt want to do it, cause at that point the landing was rather flat, but from lip to knuckle, it was probably a good 50-55 feet. 75 lip to knuckle is huge though. that would take quite a large amount of snow.

For Dec. 1st I'm definitely gonna have to go with a yay. They were some fun lil jumps to hit, not gonna lie. Kept me entertained for most of the day. Only problem was short landings (lack of snow I guess). But hey, it's Dec. 1st and I got to throw myself in the air all day. I'm happy.

^In the morning they were fine, but towards the end they did get beat. Gotta remember it was December 1st though. Can't expect too much.

i saw k-thomas, and i saw megan whn i was going up on the lift. my knee felt fine. i cased a couple times the first few runs on the new jumps and it didnt hurt, so thats a good sign. i actually got to do a lot more stuff than last time because i had my knee brace on. i had a great time there

Pssh you saw him and you didn't tell me! Eddie, Wisby's afraid of you I think. He asked me if you were nice. hahahahaha

mmmmmmhm.

Well I was either too busy looking for Wisby or too busy almost fallling off the lift thanks to SOMEONE.

mmmmmmhm.

Eddie I saw you like all day long, Then I finally met you with Sean Jordan and Nipples. I didn't know it was you!

I wanna give my thanks to Boulder, so I am quoting my own post. I got this comment tonight and thought I should post it. This is in reference to the first hit on Boulder Trail

it could be a little bigger, but hey, you can take it pretty deep so its all good. thats the first time i ever hit a jump like that and i got to say, it was pretty orgasmic haha. crazy good style of jump.
