jumps vs rails

In the east coast, way to many people are cncentrating on rails more than anything and it is making for less exciting skiing. We east coasters are not well rounded enough as is, nevermind narrowing our skiing even more.

yah, but its alot easier to push yourself on rails when its crazy icy than jumps, so its hard sometimes to keep them at similar levels

that guy up a few post is definately right about pushing yourself on rails is easier that jump because of the sheets of ice.

Jumps are cooler... as for difficulty they're both the same (cleaning a triple kink and doing a 1080 both take mad talent.) As for fun i think it's personal preference..

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

id have to say that they are completely different and cant be compared.

rails are harder to start but easier to master and jumps are the opposite.

it seems like you can fuck yourself up equally on both.(70 foot table compared to scary ass urban triple kink)

well skiin here in the east it is a lot easier on the bod to do rails cause when you miss a hit and land on eastern snow(concrete) it kinda hurts abit. def if i was out west in tons of pow id do more jumps.

GET UP FROM YOU COMPUTORS AND CATCH SOME AIR, GRIND A FEW RAILS, RIDE A PIPE OR JUST DO A FEW RUNS WITH YOUR FRIENDS.
 
rails are deffinatly more progressive but they fuck you up... id go jumps b/c i love the feeling... but ohio gets to damn icey.

the jumps at my mountain suck so i ski rails alot more because we have some descent jibs.

and i think rails are more immpresive. a sick urban loooks way cooler
 
You really think rails are more impressive, i mean dude whats better a misty 5 or some wierd combo of spins on a rail. I think i like jumps more but it all depends on the day
