Jump spots on Vail Pass...

to be quite honest if you dont know the pass you proaly shouldnt be up there. the south west side has a lot of good spots though.

well everyone has to be up there for their first time. for all we know he could be really experienced, just never been there.

yea why shouldnt u be up there if uve never been there i went up there with a bud we didnt know anything about it ... theres lots of good spots

well there is a first time for everyone, but that first time should be with someone who knows the terrain.

Wow you guys are retarded, Detective is Jon reedy pretty sure he knows whats up

Vail pass is relatively safe as well compared to alot of Colorado BC. From the top of the sled trail there is a Cliff band. Lookers left about 200 yards below the cliff there is a nice roller with a long in run and runout, pretty nice booter spot, that is the only one i have hit up there.

If you want lots of jump spots, leave 1-70 and come ride Crested Butte BC - way better

Yah I checked that spot...looks alright. I'm going to explore all weekend this weekend if anybody else is down to ride.

not to be a jackass chris, but do you know any spots besides what you hear of ? you've never been up there, and if you have tell me when you got sleds, there are great spots all over the pass though for sure. And trying to say what faces is what gave it away. Assuming you have sleds, if you go in the normal cat track, cant remember the trail number, but it will take you up a few switchbacks than you'll go through some open spots, and i would deffinately reccomend going in a ways, but make sure you are prepared for the day, water, shovels and everything. The pass isnt all that steep, but when we were back there this past week, once it hit about 12 p.m. everything seemed like it just wanted to let the top foot and a half slide. Have a crew that knows whats up, and dig your pits. The best spots i found were after the trails started breaking off from the normal one that comes up from the parking lots, usually below the cat track, you could find nice cliffs to build stuff off of, but be aware, you will be very tired, the snow isnt packed and was nearly 4-5 ft deep, which i'm sure most of you are aware. But post hole it, and be safe!

when? you hate hiking, and you dont have sleds....and you dont snow shoe or cross country ski. and no i'm not being a dick, im just making sure people hear the truth, then head out there, and end up in a sticky situation on the pass

to bad i have been snow caving up there 3 times jeff. ask my dad. we use to do it with boy scouts. and i own snow shoes, there in the garage at the house.

Settle down girls.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I plan on going for some scoping this weekend. I have a sled...so if anyone that knows the area or atleast knows how to ride a sled and use a beacon wants to ride this weekend I'm down.

I know of a sick road gap. It's big and will definitely get the heart pumping. About six miles back. Not sure if I am willing to disclose the location. Could take some bribing...

Reedy, where are you living? in Vail? I'd def. like to come along one weekend and may even be able to bring some friends w/ sleds. I am always down to get some new hot footage and hit some big bc booters...

Have you ever been to Buff Pass in Steamboat? Has some nice big natural switchback road gaps with long inruns and outruns...Plus it takes like 15 minutes to get to...I can make it happen if your down. Rabbit Ears Pass on the way to Steamboat has some virgin spots as well.

I'm living in breck right meow. I could probably go ride VP tomorrow if you are down? Sunday I can't cuz Jess is doing halfpipe at US Open. Then I leave Tuesday for Aspen and I'm throwing a party during X so I'll be pretty much spent. But I'm coming back to breck after that and will be able to sled whenever.

Hit me up on email or something.
