I can drive an extra hour to goto Kicking Horse, I don't need another resort on my doorstep. BC has like 30 BIG resorts. It has nothing to do with being a hippie and everything to do with not being selfish. Hey, fuck, while were at it, let's make every fucking mountain with snow a resort. Woopie. Where does it stop?

i think jumbo is a damn good thing for BC. we are way to conservative with mega projects like this (even though it is not the hugest resort)yet we develope subdivisions like nothing. it opens up so many possibilities, and yes, one is to make a shit load of money. this money comes back to us as a whole. thats how a prosperous counry works. everyone benefits. resorts like panorama dont make BC huge amounts of money because they are not that big. look at europe. resorts there are finicialy much bigger than here. they support large areas of the provinces they are in. they dont depend on other things brining people in. and about not using this wild land. only 4% of BC can be used for farming, and 5% can be logged. with logginh techniques now, it doesnt even affect the land to that big of an extent. at most 1% of BC is cities and towns. I think that other 90% of BC can handle another resort without the environment collapsing. plus more competition will lower the prices. and most importantly . I want to ski there with out hiking.

There was a big article in SKI Canada about it in last months issue, seems that your so called enviormental hippies are doing one hell of job keeping any development on hold. If we just go around and cut out wildlife areas without studying it we will be in big shit later. I would like to see the resort go up but nothing needs to be affected if it does.

Jumbo is amazing, I hike up there all the time in the summer. Im 50/50 about the resort. Yeah it would open up alot of shit. but it would also take away from the remotness of the hiking and the undistrubed environment. It would also turn windermere into more of an aspen then it already is.

i know i would certainly enjoy it.

this sounds like a great idea. Its like whistler except higher, with more terrain, way less people and probably way better summer camps.

i dont like the fact that the biggest financer of it is a company from Japan (look at the site) because then less money will go to the local area.

THE BIGGEST GOOD THING IS that there will be a rediculous amount of area compared to housing.
