Whats the deal with this place, it on a glacier and there is alot of opposition to it. How many skiable acres is it spose to be, I know it has a shit load of vert.

everybody is talking about the people who live there, according to that map the base is an abandoned saw mill and its 4 hours from Calgary int he middle of the mountains of Canada, how many people can actually live there? like 3? i saw build it, it will be good to go in the summer to since Whistler is going to like melt for good...

Jumbo is located in the purcell mountain range. About half an hour from Panorama. If you have ever been up the road to pano you know hwo sketchy it is, the city would have to put in many man hours and money to fix that. Its not only bears, its the size of the place. I heard its supposed to have a massive amount of chairs and all round pow skiing. Another huge oppositon to this would be R.k. Heli skiing, This supposed plan would take over at least 80% of what is controlled by R.K. right now. Plus were are all these people gunna come from. calgary maybe, but why not just ski pano? Im totally for the whole thing but i think its not really a debatible topic anymore because of how much shit its going to stir up.

 
Build it? what do you mean, its already there and free. people have been going up there for years. once they put in the base area and lifts most of us won't be able to afford to ski there anyway because it's being marketed to an upscale clientele.

 
the main reason everyones against it is because it would most likely put panorama, big white, silver star and kicking horse out of bussiness. and do we really need it?

i think its a good idea, but too grandiose of a plan. if they scaled it down and had like four lifts total then it would be sick. A gondi to the top and then a few smaller chairs perfectly deployed....they could do it, look how good Aspen Highlands' lift system works.
