"massive"... how tall are you? 49" is pretty standard for someone 5'10" to 6'0". I have rocked a 48" or 49" since I was in 9th grade.

And no, they are not like the armada poles where they are designed to be cut. These are top of the line, already cut poles. (sorry, that was me throwing out that Armada poles are just regular poles with graphics that make people want to buy them despite their rental pole qualities. :)
 
ive had the same pair of armada poles for 2 seasons now and they dont have one bend in them. they are deffinantely not regular poles. every pair of scott poles ive had have been bent to fuck to prove that i tend to break poles. the only problem with armada poles is the stupid basket changing thing because if you break that you have to replace the shaft aswell.
 
and 49" is pretty big. im 6' and i prefer my poles to be like 36-40. that may be because i used to ski moguls tho.
 
I should have also added that I like Armada poles, I just wish they had a sick carbon model.

I had no idea 49" poles were so big. I think you might want to go look at your poles though, I am having a hard time believing you have rocked 36" poles. That is bareless at my waist line with no boots or skis (which adds another 3")
