JOSS Needs A Women's Group

The face of freeskiing is so progressive and everchanging, with women leading the charge, they deserve a chance at JOSS. i know girls like Ashley Battersby could hang with Jossi and Andreas, they just need a chance.
all of those in favor of a women's roar in JOSS, say "I,"

If a girl straight aired one of the JOSS jumps I would be very impressed.

No offense to girls or anything but we all know where this thread is headed.

the thing is speed would be different for them too. they are smaller and lighter, so their momentum wouldnt carry them, wind would be more of a factor, etc.

Could you imagine how hard keeping your balance in the air would be with those big things flopping around? I give all girl skiers credit for doing anything bigger than a 3.

why?

so one of them could get hurt? whats the point, no offense but girl freeskiers dont have much skill what so ever.

this doesn't matter......

I think it would be awesome though to have a women's team, obviously they wouldn't be throwing double corks of the JOI jump, but i think that they would definately hit it and throw some tricks off of it.

this would be the other issue. again, from what ive seen, most of the pro girls just arent as strong as the guys, they wouldnt be able to hold up to the beatings a jump like that dishes out

Not to be a douche, but why don't they step up their game a little bit? I remember some chick saying that there shouldn't be "sexism" in the X-Games, but the men should have a handicap to make it more fair. I think that the girls just need to sack up (not literally) and step up their game, then they can compete with the men and be in competitions like JOSS.

that jump was considerably smaller, and lower impact

not saying i dont wish girls could compete, but i think as of right now, it would be more of an embarrassment

I'm sorry! But any of you watched women's X Games slope in Aspen or Tignes? You guys need to open your eyes and stop saying we ain't got skillz.. I'm pretty sure 80% of this entire site can't pull off those podium runs..! Please respect..

I really think girls should have a place in this kind of event, like allowing a girl on every team or something like it. There need to have more events including girls among boys to push them, or else it might not evolve as much as it could
But it's true the jump at JOSS from day 2 is jump Massive and ridiculous...

There could have been a girl on any team...they got to pick the rookie, no one said no girls allowed, but I only think Sarah Burke would be able to handle it...

if there are women who are up for it then get them out there, but i don't think they are. would love to have someone prove me wrong though

If there are girls who were up to it then send them, but I gotta say that step down is extremely masculine

I am usually in favor of the underdog or giving the little guy a chance, but having the ladies at JOSS just wouldn't work. It would be like going to play football on Thanksgiving with the family when the dad passes it to his 8 year old and he somehow scores a touchdown because everyone pretends to tackle him but can't. They would maybe do a 3 or 5 over it and people would have to say "wow, that was really great!" while in their head ending it with "for a girl".

Why is it that our politcally correct culture cannot recogize that we were made differently? I don't care if you are an atheist, buddist, jew, christian or believe in Greek mythology, but you have to be blind to not realize there are inherently different abilities in men and women. Neither is superior, but different. The problem is that every insecure or feminist woman hears " women shouldn't be in the JOSS competition" and translates that in her mind to "women aren't as good as men" and generalizes a specific event that is to distinguish the cream the of the crop by applying to it overall "standing". There are tons of things men would be embarrassed by women at, because we are different.

That being said, I would say that every female freeride pro would embarrass me on the slopes. They are sick. Just not compared to pro men. Sorry.

yeah, i wanna see more edits with ungrabbed 3's and straight airs. im sick of all these grabs and progression and shit...

if women aerialists are doing triples i think women park skiers should step it up over something than a switch 5

hahahaha, but seriously... hahaha

really though, it'd be scary to watch. kaya could hold down but thats about it.... women still need to step up their game considerably for a comp. like that. but if they sessioned the jumps without a womens category (for fun), sure why not.

I don't think there is a single female skier who can "hang" on the same level as Jossi and Andreas. Fact, and Im not trying to hate on women Im just thinking this thread is beating a dead horse. Femal freeskiing is about 2-3 years behind the learning curve of male skiers for whatever reason, but shits truth.

i agree, i think the whole girls have no skills thing is not that true: they just haven't had the opportunities that male skiiers have had to improve. i think that they should at least be given the chance to hit the jumps

no? Jon probably has 60 lbs on her. Not that weight is the problem though. Girls are at the point where when I see them (top female pros) hit freeway at Breck, I get sketched out every time. JOSS is way bigger than that.

yeah, at my hill girls aren't allowed in the park...

How have they not had the opportunity? They are all allowed in the park, summer camp, blah blah, blah blah. Guys in general just have better aptitude for sports. No one can say that's not true.

you also have to remember that sending these athletes to JOSS aint free. Sponsors aren't going to want to send athletes all the way to Sweden if they may not even hit some of the features...lets face it...most of the girls sent probably wouldn't hit that huge stepdown...so basically sponsors would be paying to send a few female skiers to sit and watch people hit a jump...see what i'm getting at?
