Jon's new trick - THE TORNADO!

i don't get why there was a minute of talking before the shot of the trick..so fuckin dramatic

oh and oscar's was definitely the exact same thing, just without a safety grab.
 
That was pretty cool for a double.

Wonder if he can pull it off on a smaller jump this year.

Way better then any double 12 I've seen. pk late cork 12 is still the coolest 12 ever.
 
I'm sorry to bash people on the internet but that clearly wasn't any sort of flatspin, rodeo, or misty.

That's 100% a switch double cork 12. And that trick has been done before- jossi has both sw. dub cork 10s and 14s, I don't know if he's done a sw dub cork 12 for sure though.

Anyone else think when they saw this thread that it was gunna be jon brogan's new trick?
 
The difference between this and other sw double 12s, is in the way he enters the last 360 rotation. Where other people usually links a cork 3 at the end of a sw cork 9, Jon is doing more of a sw cork 7 to a sw cork 5, which I think could be considered "new".

It might have been done before, but I'd take a guess and say that Jon is the first to do it who actually tried to do just that. Whether it's "new" enough to warrant a new name is hard to say, but I think it's fair to want to make destinctions between different kinds of doubles, even double corks.

(I'd say PK's "double 10" could be called a "cork 7-3", and Jon's tornado a "sw cork 7-5"?)

 
yeah haha i gotta agree with that, it is definitely not a bio or anything haha its a dub cork. and yeah i mean that thing oscar harlaut did was pretty much the same thing, but it looked dope (both of theirs)
 
Im sure Jon is a really great guy. In fact, i know he is from a lot of my friends... AND i have a lot of respect for him.
BUT he needs to stop coming up with stupid (rollerblade-like) names, ESPECIALLY when the trick has been done before... Yes, he does it differently, but its a sw dub 12 - nothing more nothing less.
Everybody does their dubs differently - more cork, less cork, 7 to 5, 5 to 7, whatever...
Claiming this one is kinda arrogant.
Stoked for Jon that he learned something new though...
PS: If you really wanna do something new, do sw dub misty (thats bobbys new trick i believe) and dub rodeo 12 (the "pistol-flip" was never perfected (im never gonna call it that))

Pretty sick. its almost like a triple cork, just needs to tweak the second rotation a bit more ... cool fuckin trick
 
you sir are the king at splitting hairs. if we ever want to get out skiing after we can put a name on a trick we can't be that picky. hence all the vids are sw dub 12s.
 
Its a awesome trick and Jon deserves alot of props. But its a variation of a switch dub 12 and does not deserve its own name. Especially one as dumb as the tornado
 
Next time one of you guys lands a new trick name it whatever the fuck you want.

As sick as oscars is I don't think he could ever do that trick again look how landed both hands down and sitting on his tails if he could do it more then once he would have gotten a clean one.
 
not if dumont double fronts again. seriously though, that was a tight trick. but the name? come on. its like mctwist or something. this isnt ssx tricky or something.
 
pk aldready did sw dub cork 12 so it's not new but jon do it in a different way. Same trick doesn't look the same when different people do them.
 
im pretty sure its a switch dj flip..which does make this claimable since i havent seen anybody else do a dj flip his dj flip is different than other peoples doubles cuz he does like a cork spin to flatspin rather than flat to flat (kangaroo) or just two corked rotations (what most people are doing right now)

but I just had a flash : imagine that rotation with a blunt. just thinking about it makes me wet
 
Props to Jon, looks sick and clean. Especially while moving up in FIS rankings in NorAm races, I don't think many kids here appreciate how insane it is to do both of those things in the same season, that is a seriously high level of racing, not that far off World Cup.

Probably he chose a one word semi cheesy name so that Douglas can reference it while commentating, easier for the people at home to think tornado versus switch dub 12 etc. Who cares what he names it anyway.
 
yea i agree, i dont think any of his "doubles" really count as doubles...when you compare them to toms or andreas'...
im not talking shit cause im not 1/10th the park skier PK is...im just saying.
 
Sorry to dub post, but watch it again. Watch it as close to frame-by-frame as you can. It's not a switch double cork 12. Watch the PK video that was posted and then watch Jon. The first rotation is a switch cork 7, no doubt about it. But the second one...I have no fucking clue what to call it, but it sure as hell ain't no cork. Watch the second rotation again. Pause at the end of the first one, and watch very, very carefully. You'll notice a difference, I promise.
